My self-summary
I am really just looking for people to relax and enjoy life (or dinner) with.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a nuclear engineer working for a big corporation. I do a lot of complicated analysis that requires critical thinking. I enjoy it a lot. When I'm not working, I'm trying my best to relax and shake off a bit of stress. I own a mostly undecorated house and a whirlwind of a dog (though to say that I own him is generous, since he runs the show.) I'm pretty happy with myself and my life, in general.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at laughing at jokes, no matter how corny or inappropriate. I also have this really great skill of being confident and unconcerned, even in situations where I probably shouldn't be. I can also fix computers and do your math homework.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am either reading a book or playing with (read: voiding the warranty on) some gadget. Or both!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have broad tastes in books but I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy. Lately, Jim Butcher and Neal Stephenson have been my go-to authors when I'm looking for something fun. I like to read almost anything, but to me, a good book is an escape into a different world.

I haven't been to the theaters in a while, but Netflix gives me pretty much everything I would want to see. I like campy horror movies, thoughtful movies and documentaries, and dark comedies. The same goes for TV shows, though I admit that I'm never up on the most current shows since I ditched cable. I do make an effort to catch new episodes of Doctor Who, Psych, The League, Archer, and Sherlock. I think Netflix has created a sort of interesting social dynamic - instead of everyone watching and relating to a small set of current shows, we have the ability to watch nearly anything from nearly any time and call it our "favorite". I imagine that fifteen years ago, it was a lot different. I wonder what it will do for our culture. Will it be so cluttered by choice that we no longer have shared experiences, or will it create infinitely segmented subcultures?

I'm not incredibly into music. I listen to it and enjoy it, but it doesn't define my life like it does for some people. I listen to the local radio station for kicks and NPR the rest of the time. When I think to stream music while doing something else, I generally pick ambient or IDM stations. If I could listen to only Daft Punk and Styx for the rest of my life, I think I'd manage just fine. Then again, I may be able to go without, entirely.

Trying new food and beer is my hobby. I'm trying to get to every place in West Chester, since it's easy for me to walk pretty much anywhere. If you've been to Ram's Head on a weeknight in the past several months, you may have seen me at the bar reading a book. I think it makes some people uncomfortable, but I kind of like the idea of being quiet in a noisy room.
The six things I could never do without
My dog, a desktop computer, contacts/glasses, noodles, bad puns, and imperial stouts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sadly, I spend the majority of my time thinking about work. I also spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about my puppy, but I don't feel so guilty about that. Otherwise, I am interested in how and why things work, and will often find myself lost in thought trying to estimate the volume of a passing car or thinking about how strong a squirrel must be to jump four feet in the air.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday, I'm probably trying to install some ancient PC game while waiting for my dinner to come in from Grub Hub and drinking a craft beer. I'd like to say take I'm out on the town with all of my friends, but I really don't know anyone in the area yet. I'm sure it will be true in time. Maybe you can help!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I had to make a very conscious effort to use contractions in this profile. Professional email etiquette has beaten them out of me.
