What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm currently trying to figure out a major conundrum. I love ice cream and when I get a pint of Ben and Jerry's I take it down within an hour of opening it with no problems. But when I get ice cream on a cone I can never finish it in time without wearing 90% of it all over myself. I mean like full Costanza at the US Open. But I can't get ice cream in a bowl because that's just un-American. Take it from me, people who get ice cream in a bowl probably won't have your back in a foxhole. Just saying...well, problems.

In other news, I recently published a book based on my Army experiences in Afghanistan and had the privilege of taking it on a national tour.

One day I hope to own a jazz club.

Job wise, I run a non-profit that resettles translators from the Iraq and Afghan wars and do some strategy consulting on the side.

I like to travel, ski, sail, play rugby, spend time with my family and friends, play piano, see as many concerts as I can (I love music), and write. I can quote movies like its my job and am excellent at trivia. I'm also a music addict - one of my favorite things is to share new artists with friends.

Three quotes that would sum up how I live my life are as follows:

"Every step forward is a success." -Taz (a dear friend I made on a mountaineering trip in Colorado)

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." - Gandhi

"Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise men to the divine." -Beethoven
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Conversation, making friends, listening, spontaneous adventures, choosing gifts, vacations, recommending new music, keeping up with current events, playing the piano socially (its how I got myself through grad school).
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My energy and my enthusiasm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Music:
Honestly, I cannot get enough music in my day. When I'm alone I'm almost always listening to something. I have very eclectic tastes as I listen to just about everything but heavy metal. I'm big into Jazz (esp. Duke Ellington), Singer Song Writers, Classic Rock (60's-late 70's), 90's Alternative Music, Classical, Folk, and Hip Hop. I'm also an avid fan of NPR's All Songs Considered. A dream job would be to one day get Bob Boilen's gig and travel the nation discovering new music and sharing it with the world.
