My self-summary
Tasteful yet unrefined. A lover and a fighter. Learning to fail better.

This section makes me feel like a wax sculpture.
What I’m doing with my life
Writer, photojournalist, and assistant at a Center City law firm.

I never, ever thought I'd be satisfied with an office job, but I love being part of a team that fights for people getting chewed up by the machinery of "criminal justice." It's also an unexpectedly pleasant change from freelance life.

Honing my research skills to become a better journalist on my own time.

Reveling in my adult attention deficit gifts.

Trying really hard not to take it all too seriously.
I’m really good at
lending an ear when you need to vent as well as giving advice (if requested).

Air drumming.

Giving back massages.

A Chris Walken impression, or so I'm told.

Procrastinating.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a good listener. I can be a goofball. Boisterous laugh. Intermittent smartassery. Reserved with most people initially. I just have to warm up to you first.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
Political non-fiction (especially George Orwell - no one compares to this man), noir fiction, poetry, biographies, and history.

Movies:
Far too many to list, but here goes:

Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom, Gangs of New York (long live the Dead Rabbits!), Buena Vista Social Club, The Big Chill, The Insider, Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, Michael Clayton, and The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Television:
House of Cards, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Walking Dead, and rewatching old X-Files seasons is sheer bliss.

Music:
SO MUCH. But top choices: Clinic, Holy Fuck, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Max Richter, The Fall, The Coup, The War on Drugs.

And Portishead for making out.

Food:
Anything. Spicy. Craft beer. I burn pancakes. Help me.
The six things I could never do without
Philadelphia (and living in Center City). Every day presents a new photo.

My special needs dog and neurotic cat.

Books, films, photography, laughter, craft beer, back massages, cuddles and foreplay, cheap pizza, and Twitter.

Yeah, that's twelve. Life can't be listed with just six items.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the perfect photo.

Anarchism. Corrupt cops.

A new FOIA request to another profoundly frustrating government agency.

Tasty beer or whiskey.

Power dynamics in non-monogamous relationships.

Memes.

Why I'm on a dating site.
On a typical Friday night I am
checking out a film, hitting a bar or show with friends. At home working on photographs or writing an article. Chilling in Rittenhouse.

Around.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've dabbled in responsible non-monogamous relationships, had a great time mostly, and have no issue with doing so again, given the right circumstances.

Hearing some Martin Luther King, Jr. speeches actually make me tear up.

I loathe semi-colons and it's a shame OKC jettisoned the "pen pals" option.
