My self-summary
I'm a triplet. I have a brother and a sister. This has been such a dominating aspect of my life, I find it interesting now that the three of us are through different colleges, jobs, and towns; I'm not known as Kyle's brother or Heidi's brother. But to know me, you have to know them.

I'm currently aspiring to be a young urban professional in Madison and getting a Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering. I drink very little, considering this. Now that I'm in grad school, I'm trying to cultivate an irrational hatred for These Kids Today. We had Saved By the Bell. They had Saved By the Bell: The New Class.

I'm very religious. I'm a confessional Lutheran (with my own copy of the Book of Concord and everything!), and would secretly like to add "this is most certainly true" to every e-mail or report I write. It's something I find great hope, strength, and comfort in.

Music: I just don't have the time to invest looking at the local music scene to know what's good or not, but I enjoy live music a lot. I listen to a very eclectic mix, which has taken a strange turn into bluegrass of late. The Beatles. The Who (did you know I can mow a lawn in the time it takes to listen to Tommy?). My guilty pleasure is Fiona Apple. I also have a weird thing for OLD, old country. I've made my peace with Radiohead and have caved in towards acknowledging them if not loving them. Bon Iver is from my hometown, and I'm a big fan. I sometimes imagine that we'll get stuck in an elevator or something and will have very little to talk about despite our common background.

I like to sing, too. I'm ok at it. I play piano just enough to trick people who don't play piano into thinking I'm good, even though I suck.

I am intelligent, spiritual, and stubborn.
What I’m doing with my life
I just graduated with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Environmental Option) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and I'm back for my masters. So once Obama fixes the economy in a few weeks, I'll have one of those new-fangled Green Collar jobs.
I’m really good at
I'm good at memorizing useless information, but NOT memorizing phone numbers or stuff I really NEED to know. I do names and faces very well. I secretly resent IMDB because it replaces the one job I did better than almost everyone else. I am the John Henry of remembering actors.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been genetically blessed to have the ability to grow a beard. My facial hair grows very fast, so at any particular time you see me, I probably am doing something different with my face. I've done beards, goatees, and a funny mustache for one week to win a bet.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books. "Catch-22", "Brothers Karamazov", "Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid." I did The Hunger Games lately, and I don't know what I'll do next after I finish.

Movies. Mystic River, The Godfather sans part III, Apocalypse Now, A Few Good Men, No Country for Old Men, Miller's Crossing

Shows. The only show I watch regularly is Community. I watch live sports but hate ESPN passionately.

Music. Third Eye Blind, Nina Simone, The Who, The Beatles, The Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, and I have a strange love for bluegrass covers of other songs.

Food. I vacillate between being a vegetarian or not for health and environmental reasons. When I cook, it has onions in it. My best dish I can cook is falafel.
The six things I could never do without
1. Music
2. Da Bears
3. Hope
4. Ridiculously philosophical answers like #3
5. Meta-jokes like #5
6. Air because I can't think of too many things
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. I think a lot. I analyze things and break them down into little manageable parts. Oftentimes I over-analyze to the point of paralysis.

The Future. Home. Myself. My friends. Politics. How I shouldn't think about myself too much.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends at the Terrace, enjoying the sun and the lake and the beer and the cards. Unless sports are on tv. Or my Netflix is REALLY good.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My social conservatism and political liberalism get me into all kinds of crazy hijinks and adventures.
