My self-summary Propose an edit

I'm your typical tree-hugging, vegetarian, bisexual, pagan, polyamorous, liberal, loving father.

I love camping, dancing, reading, woodworking, and community involvement. All of which I need to do more often. I also love playing board games and card games, cuddling, watching movies, occasional computer games, and seeing friends.

I'm a bit of a homebody, but jump at the chance to do something like dinner, hiking, dancing, hanging out with friends, etc.

I have two beautiful daughters who are with me every other week.

The people I tend to click with are my complements. The people I most enjoy having around me are different enough to challenge those things that don't come naturally, or complete some of the qualities that I would like to have.

I'm looking for friends... for lovers... for Love. I don't expect anyone to be all three. But if you are interested in more than friendship, I prefer my relationships to be based in friendship.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

- Creating a new home for my family. (I just bought some property for a house and woodworking shop.)
- Making new friends, and deepening the excellent friendships I have.
- Working on exercising & meditating more.
- Becoming more active in the community, especially with pagan events and the GLBT Center.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Food: I love Indian food (north & south), but I like to try new vegetarian dishes whenever I find them. Baklava. Hummus. Pesto. Soft Chocolate-chip cookies. Mac & cheese is still my comfort food.

Books: Fiction - Sci-fi, fantasy, humor. ANYTHING by Margaret Atwood. Loved everything I've read by Theodore Sturgeon (starting with More than Human). Most anything by Anne Rice, or Piers Anthony (although some of his short stories are pretty out-there...). The Myth, Inc. series. Harry Potter. Black Cauldron. The Lorax. Where the Wild Things Are. LOTR. If I can't put it down, or it makes me laugh, cry, or feel every word, then it's in. Nonfiction - books on sexuality, spirituality, and philosophy.

Movies: I like most movie genres if they are well-done. Sci-fi/fantasy/superhero, drama, suspense, horror (not just slasher), some action movies. Zombie and vampire movies, the cheesier the better. Movies you won't find in mainstream theatres. (I even like subtitles if the kids aren't with me -- although I have read them entire anime movies before - with appropriate voices of course.) Silent films (mostly the comedies, but I've seen some good dramatic ones). Old movies, especially screwball comedies, B horror and sci-fi, and ANYTHING with Cary Grant. And most anything with Jimmy Stewart.

Music: I mostly tune to classic rock, but like a lot more. Queen, Eagles, the Doors, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Todd Rundgren, Loreena McKinnett, Weird Al, most things that have been on the Dr. Demento show, Clannad, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, etc. If it makes me want to dance, sing, feel, or laugh then it's good. Not fond of opera, twangy country, music without melody, or music that feels rooted in nothing but deep anger.

Skin color, age, height, and most other externals don't matter to me. 20 or 60 doesn't matter. Alabaster or obsidian doesn't matter. Shorter or taller both have their own charms. In fact, if there is something about you that physically sets you apart from most other people I deal with day-to-day, I'll probably like it lots.
(My one physical prejudice for romantic relationships would be health-affecting weight extremes. Extra padding or petite are just fine. Skeletal or obese are a problem to me.)

For either friendship or romance, I care far more about maturity, self-esteem, ability to hold an intelligent conversation, joie de vivre, kindness and compassion, and having something for which you show a passion.

I tend to go a few days between checking email, so please don't expect immediate response. About the only reason I would ignore someone is if it's painfully obvious they are just interested in sex. (And if you're up-front about it, I'll probably still respond. Sex is Good, but I do like to be able to hold a decent conversation with people, too...)

I share custody of my two daughters, and have them with me every other week. My time with them is priceless to me, but that does not preclude getting together with people who are respectful of my being a parent. I don't mind them knowing people with whom I socialize, but I'm very conscious of not exposing them to a revolving door either, especially with romantic interests.
