My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I’m interested in meeting someone who is fun, has a kind heart, and has a bit of sass. Simple as that. I like spending my time with my kids (daughter and son both in grade school). I’m social, outgoing yet mindful, reflective and sometimes pensive. I work passionately on social justice issues and love to volunteer via sitting on the board of a group dedicated to reduce gun violence. I value authenticity, wit, ethics, kindness, and love for fun. I enjoy meeting new people and learning what makes them tick. I like to challenge myself physically and intellectually. I'm from Chicago and went to grad school in Criminology but used it to go into research based jobs. I lived abroad way back when but it still feels like yesterday. My hope is to have made a positive impact when all is said and done. I’ve been told I’m emotionally intelligent – I can only hope that’s true. I love the outdoors - I realize that's cliche around here, but for anyone who grew up with a love for the mountains in an area where high altitude meant the top of a steeply sloped driveway - you know what I mean. I consider myself the friendly sort who still gets startled at times by the “Seattle freeze”. I don't do passive aggressive! I love sports – but I’m not a sports nut (well, unless the Cubs make a run for the world series…). I’d consider myself more of an activity nut. I like to bike, play ice hockey, coach my son’s little league and hockey teams, hike and watch my daughter Irish dance. I am at times naively optimistic, authentic to a fault, affectionate, and not afraid of being vulnerable – and known for a witty sense of humor. What you see is what you get.

The person I’m hoping to meet doesn’t take themselves too seriously and has a compassionate heart. You are emotionally available and not "rebounding". You are open to the possibility of creating a real relationship based on respect, trust and sass (I can be a bit of a smart ass at times...) You are free-spirited, accepting, and you have a warm soul. You treat other people with respect and can enjoy life – you don't sweat the small stuff. I would love to find someone I can feel comfortable with and be myself (and vice versa), whether that's going out to see a local band, exploring cool new watering holes or just enjoying our companionship . I believe in karma - be kind to others or look out.

Books: Currently reading "Hunger Games" because my daughter just read it. I find it quite disturbing, but she loved it. Also liked "We Learn Nothing" by Tim Kreider, "Life" by Keith Richards, "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" and before that "Unbroken". Love Kerouac and the Beat genre. Fav book of all time is still Dharma Bums.
Music: Need to see more live music! Most recently have been going to see a talented friend play cool covers at local pubs. Usually listening to: Luna, Buffalo Tom, Matt Wilson, Drive By Truckers, Modest Mouse, The Clash, The Dead, Wilco, Nirvana. Stones over Beatles any day.
Influenced by Joe Strummer, Neil Young, Chicago Blues, Lou Reed, Bob Weir, Dylan.
TV: Life, Breaking Bad, any good series to get addicted to
Food: Sushi!!
