My self-summary
Born and raised in Northern California and Central Valley and lived in the Bay as an adult/post-college - definitely my favorite weather/community. I've also lived in DC and Panama and look forward to visiting Latin America again - my Spanish has dissipated.

I'm introverted and contemplative, especially in large groups but enjoy deep conversations with small groups and one-on-one. Nerdy and creative, particularly when it comes to history/politics/economics and scifi/fantasy of all mediums; progressive activist, fantasy aficionado, and aspiring writer.
What I’m doing with my life
Political research for Democratic campaigns. I'm also working on personal fiction projects for novels/tv shows
I’m really good at
I make a mean egg scramble breakfast burrito.

Making connections between seemingly different/unrelated things.

Asking questions, listening, learning
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair is a little long/crazy and one of my eyes droops.

I'm quiet until I figure out what I want to say.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books, I'm open to anything but tend to gravitate towards fantasy novels. Of those Dresden Files and Song of Ice and Fire are my favorite. Ender's Game is a classic. I'm trying to work in books on the Enlightenment and other history.

Movies - Princess Bride, Serenity, Boondock Saints, Departed, Snakes on a Plane, Wedding Crashers, Star Wars. I grew up on Westerns

TV - Game of Thrones, West Wing, Parks & Rec, anything Joss Whedon, most shows on Geek & Sundry, Daily Show/Colbert Report, Louis C.K.

Podcasts - RadioLab, Thomas Jefferson Hour, This American Life
The six things I could never do without
-I go a little bit stir crazy when someone takes my internet away.
-Energy outages, I'm just so used to them (why Berkeley PG&E, why??)
-Comfortable chairs - I'm kind of a connoisseur
-Something to read
-Someone to bounce ideas off of
-New ideas to consider
I spend a lot of time thinking about
why the world is the way it is and what we can do to change it

the economic systems of the Star Wars (capitalist?) and Star Trek (communist?) worlds and what that can tell us about our world

Sometimes I narrate the world in my head - hey, it's practice for writing okay??

really Obama? really?
On a typical Friday night I am
With friends - out dancing, board games or just relaxing
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I spent a good while after college thinking I should model my life after the West Wing; now I'm trying to figure out what to do without that.
