My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Cards on the table: I'm a geek. But it's cool, I've accepted it and I'm proud of it. I love learning stuff. How stuff works, science, history, linguistics, philosophy: it's all good. I'm into films, tv, video games, board games, the usual stuff. My favourite hobby these days is board games. I don't play much, but it's always great fun. Seriously come to a Dungeons and Dragons game some time, it's about half a day of the best banter. So I'm pretty introverted too: I need time to myself to process stuff and disengage from the world.

You may catch me talking to myself, but I prefer to call it thinking out loud. Toilet paper should hang over, and if you think differently, I hate you (http://nedroid.com/comic/comics-rss/2012-09-30-beartato-tproblem-copy.png would apply).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Physics and maths teacher at second level. Watching my shows every week. Keeping up with various hobbies; namely web design, programming, music, games. Occasionally updating my youtube channels.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Not much, I'm one of those jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none type of guys. I can do all sorts of stuff with some competency, but not enough to turn into a career or anything.

I am however great at being impartial. I'm pretty decent at a few instruments, and I can usually solve maths puzzles I'm given. I've heard from a number of reliable sources that my hugs are the best ... ladies ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
It's probably the beard. It's less unusual these days for men to have beards than it was a few years ago, but it's still a prominent feature of my face. Can't miss it really.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Bands - Elbow, Muse, Radiohead, Divine Comedy, Sara Bareilles, Foo Fighters, The Smiths / Morrissey, Nirvana, Snow Patrol, The Smashing Pumpkins.

Shows - Community, Dexter, The Mentalist, The Big Bang Theory, Breaking Bad, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Happy Endings, The Walking Dead, SVU (I miss Chris Meloni), 30 Rock, Arrow, Game of Freaking Thrones, Misfits (though season 4 was pretty bad)

Films - Count of Monte Cristo, any Simon Pegg / Nick Frost films, Groundhog Day, The Invention of Lying, most superhero films (The Avengers in particular), Monty Pythons.

Books - Anything by Christie Golden, Trudi Canavan, Sergei Lukyanenko. Mainly fantasy novels, with a few books that teach new skills, and some pop-science books.

Food - I'm a fan of desserts. Plum crumble goes down well with some vanilla custard. I bake now and then to get my fix.

Games - Minecraft; The Elder Scrolls III, IV, V; Starcraft II; Fallout III, NV; I usually get the humble bundles when they come out, and pick up the odd deal on steam. Currently playing Minecraft TPPI modpack, Space Engineers, and Civ 5 a lot. Sometimes play dotes with mates: ask for my steam ID if you want a match!

Web shows - Some Yogscasters (<3 Ridgedog and Sjin), minute physics, veritasium, CGPGrey, numberphile, Vi Hart, epic meal time, ASAP science, FunshineX, Direwolf20, TomSka.

Web comics - xkcd, smbc, abstruse goose, doghouse diaries, something of that ilk, explosm, nedroid, buttersafe, prequel, dinosaur comics, menage a 3, occasionally homestuck as well, though that has been dragging on a bit.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Internets.
The lads / pals.
Knowledge that I don't have yet.
I'm pretty partial to my phone I suppose.
Comfortable seating.
Cheesy doritos.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Potential future conversations. I'm not hugely witty, so I try to plan ahead.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Could be any number of things. Most likely to be found hanging out with the lads, or staying in watching films or telly.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have exactly two secrets, but over the years I've forgotten what one of them is. I kid you not, it is now secret even to me. I do remember that it exists though.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You reckon you should have more geeky friends, or boyfriends in your life, and all/most/some/any of that stuff above seems appealing. If purple is your favourite colour, and it's reflected in your clothes and / or hair colour. I dunno, I'm pretty sure I'm a nice guy and you could do a lot worse. Also, I find assertiveness pretty attractive so sending the first message is a great way to get my attention.
