I'm a musician, but it's not my job and I don't really plan for it to be. Everybody says "do what you love." But if I'm working for somebody else, it just never works out. For me, it's much more fun this way. I'm currently playing in a band that I like to describe as loud, fuzzy rock n roll. It's the best project I've been a part of yet. Except...I just started collaborating with a friend, doing something a little more electronic and 80s inspired. That is also the best project I've been a part of yet. Hmm.
For work, I still do something I really enjoy, especially now. I got hired by some friends a little over a year ago at a small startup downtown where everybody knows each other. It's awesome.
Also, it's pretty important that you watch this now.
Edit: I figured it out. At 2 months away from 39, I decided to learn to skateboard. I should've done this years ago. It's too much fun. I can't even do anything yet and I already like it.
Further Edit: I just broke my leg skateboarding. :p It seems to be healing nicely though and I can't wait to get back to it.
Books: Never Let Me Go, Looking for Alaska, The Windup Girl, The Little Prince, His Dark Materials and Gone Girl (just saw the movie. It was good! I liked the ending in the book better, but they did a really good job otherwise).
Movies: Donnie Darko, Mulholland Drive, Sin City, Pulp Fiction, Drive, The City of Lost Children, Enter the Void, House of Yes, Rid of Me. Also, The Shining is my favorite horror movie. I saw a preview of it when I was 5 or so when my mom took me to see Popeye (I'm assuming they showed it because Shelly Duvall was in both), and it scared the shit out of me. Ever since then, I wondered what it was. When I finally saw it, the scene from the preview (where the hall fills up with blood) gave me the biggest chills. So awesome.
Shows: Archer, Firefly, Arrested Development, Californication, Always Sunny, True Detective, Game of Thrones and Black Mirror.
I'm hilarious, I know. Thanks.
You try to keep a positive outlook, but are at least somewhat cynical.
You don't take yourself too seriously.
You love dark humor.
You are self aware.
You have your own opinions about what is important in life that may not always align with popular opinion.
...But you don't rail against popular opinion just because.
You love music. Like, a lot. Or even like Alot.
