Hi, my name is Dan.

I am part scientist, part metalhead, part regular-guy. I am somewhat nerdy - the words "I love math" have been known to leave my mouth, however I don't consider myself a "nerd". I am down-to-earth, friendly, and enjoy laughing. My music of choice is heavy metal, but I can appreciate a good song no matter the genre.

Writing these things is hard... this is a work in progress!

I graduated from UVM with degrees in math and physics. I'm currently finishing up post-bacc classes at Columbia, and am starting a PhD program in theoretical condensed matter physics at the University of Virginia in late August. Other than all that craziness, I'm trying to live it up in NYC in the few months I have before I move to Virginia.

Guitar. I like to fool around with jazz and blues licks, but I really know how to write a good metal riff. I can shred a decent face-melting solo also!

Bicycling! Road racing and long distance is my thing. I don't buy into the trend of brakeless fixed, but if you do, I'll still ride with you!

Cooking. I make a mean breakfast that will really get you going for the day. I've also been known to be good on the grill, even though its been a while since I've had a BBQ.

I am a person. I'm shy at first, but talkative once we get to know each other.

I dont have a favorite book persay, since I don't read for pleasure often. The books I read that aren't school related are usually sci-fi or horror novels - nothing profound.

I like comedy, action, sci-fi, horror, suspense films the most. some of my favorite movies include Star Wars, All James Bond movies, Friday After Next, Executive Decision, Jay & Silent Bob related movies, Friday the 13th Series, Die Hard series, Indiana Jones series, who can list all of your "favorite" movies?

My favorite TV shows include Law & Order, L&O:SVU, LOST, The X-Files, House, Family Guy, American Dad!, A Haunting, Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, stuff on History, Discovery, Science channels.

As far as music goes, I like anything that is fast, complex, and has a good beat. Thusly, I like heavy metal, punk, jazz, and classical music. Megadeth, King Diamond, Death, Crass, Dead Kennedy's, Thelonious Monk, Wes Montgomery, Bach.
I've been trying to expand my tastes in music lately - I'm open to suggestions.

I have been a somewhat picky eater, but I'm changing that part of me. College really turned me off of eating the same thing over and over. My diet is "mostly other", whatever that means.

I am currently in the process of watching every Law & Order episode. Almost done - currently on season 19.
