As a kid, sometimes I was really outgoing and other times I'd sneak off to a pillow fort to write stories. That description still fits, though these days my sneakers have fewer LED lights. (Only slightly.)
I like to explore and learn and be challenged and think hard about the world and my place in it. Then again I also like fluffernutters and making up nonsense words, so I guess humans are enigmatic, as summed up by Jean-Paul Sartre when he famously said "enough philosophy, let's watch cat videos."
I'm fortunate enough to have a career I love, writing comedy. I play the piano and it keeps me sane. I wish people still wrote letters.
Here's something I once read and took to heart: "Maybe we mistakenly think we want “happiness,” which we tend to picture in very vague, soft-focus terms, when what we really crave is the harder-edged intensity of experience.” I'd like to be the interesting grandpa one day, with the weird stories. Take that, imaginary future other-grandpa.
