My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am an intelligent, ambitious woman who is happy with her life and hoping to find someone special to share it with. I like to take things slowly and am not into games. Now that I'm finished with my Masters degree and have a career, I would like to settle down and start a family in the next few years.

I am fiery and intense, but also have a soft, romantic side. I am a passionate person and am not afraid to take chances when there is something I really want. I believe life is too short to do otherwise. I am very loyal to those who are loyal to me and I go out of my way to be there for my family and friends.

I have an active social life, but don't fit into the bar/club scene. I prefer to curl up in a chair with a good book at Starbucks or go to a nice lounge, restaurant or enjoy high tea with my friends. I also like to stay in shape. I hate the gym, but have fun salsa dancing and doing yoga. I love to cook and entertain. The simple things in life bring me incredible joy. A stroll down the Charles River with a close friend or a perfectly ripe avocado will make my day. I enjoy traveling and hope to do more of it in the future. Lugano, Switzerland is my favorite destination so far.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:

Some characteristics that describe my ideal mate:

You are open to learning, growing and self-improvement. You have a good head on your shoulders. You are emotionally and financially stable, intelligent, well educated, family oriented, grounded, patient, loyal, dependable, chivalrous, kind, sensitive, funny, genuine, and down-to-earth. Most importantly, you are a good communicator. You don't run away from life when times are hard. If we get into an argument, (as all couples do), I know you will still be there the next day. You love deep, intimate conversations, but also appreciate the unspoken connection of holding the one you love in silence. You respect me as a woman and we share the same values. You believe in some type of higher power. (I do not date atheists).

I am not willing to settle for second best in relationships or in life, and neither should you. When I do get married, it will be because I finally found my soulmate, not because I couldn't stand being single anymore. I'm not looking for a man to rescue me, save me or complete me; rather, I want a man who complements my strengths and weaknesses and vice versa.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am trained as a health policy professional and currently work for the federal government. I'm in the very early stages of starting my own healthcare nonprofit which I plan to eventually do full-time.

I'm also a writer and artist. My dream is to create social change through writing and advocacy. For the past few years, I have been working on a book. I'd be happy to tell you more about any of this. Just ask me!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...writing, research, communication, political organizing, and helping people solve their problems. I'm very creative and enjoy drawing/painting in my spare time. I was a history major in undergrad, so I'm much more of a humanities/social science person, not a numbers person. I hated chemistry, but did very well in biology. My biggest strengths are in writing and social/professional networking. I also like to think that I am a good listener and a supportive friend to those who need me. Oh, and I am a good cook!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love life. I am a people person and get energy from being around others. My friends describe me as a social butterfly. I'm a self-starter, very motivated. I want to make a difference with my life and I care a great deal about volunteer work/giving back to the community. At least I hope those are things that people first notice about me. I also love debating politics as long as the conversation is respectful of all view points.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Gosh, there are so many! Where do I even start?

Books: I enjoy any kind of American (esp. Southern) history, self-help books, contemporary and historical fiction, biographies... Some of my favorite books are: The Secret Life of Bees, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, My Sister's Keeper, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Learned Optimism, books about the Kennedys..... I could go on and on.

Movies: I like dramas, romantic comedies, anything historical. I like movies that make you think. Some top favs: Ray, Walk the Line, The Notebook, Forrest Gump, Amistad, The Aviator, The Help, A Beautiful Mind. I own the entire mini-series Roots and Roots; The Next Generations. I hate horror movies. They give me nightmares.

Shows: I don't watch much TV because there are other things I would rather do with my time. I have basic cable so that I can watch the Olympics, the Oscars and presidential debates.

Music: Soft Rock, Oldies, anything on Boston's Magic 106.7 FM. I also enjoy some Irish and New Age music like Enya.

Food: I love cooking/baking and eat very healthy, mostly organic. I have a lot of food allergies, so I can't eat everything I like. When eating out, my favorite cuisines are Mexican, Italian and American. I love "Southern" food and enjoy sweet potato pie and sweet tea when I am visiting family down South. I would live off of avocados and crab cakes if that was possible. I have been told that I make very good eggplant parmesan.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My faith/spirituality
2. My friends and family
3. Having a sense of purpose in my life
4. Using my brain (I am not one of those people who can be idle/do nothing. I think about things constantly. My brain is always in motion).
5. Good books
6. My laptop and my smartphone (Okay, I guess that was 2)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...figuring out the best way to put my talents to use for the greater good.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...out to dinner with friends, reading a good book or crashing on the couch watching a movie. If I'm in the mood, I might bake cookies or banana bread.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That's why it's called private.
