My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Let's be real: most of the time I'm on OKC is when I'm drunk and/or bored. This applies doubly if you live nowhere near me and I viewed your profile. Now that we've cleared that up, let's move on.

I'm Dane (no, not like Dane Cook. Like the people of Denmark). I'm getting progressively nerdier every year and I apparently have no control over it. I'm a transaction coordinator for real estate and it's way more boring than it sounds. I grew up in the greater Phoenix area and just move to Prescott at the beginning of the year. I don't know how small towns work and I know no one up here. Help.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to beat an answer out of it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh. Being polite. Etc, etc, etc.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Usually people notice whatever facial hair I'm sporting at that point. I fluctuate between having a beard and having a mustache pretty often, but sometimes I decide to get rid of it all. Other than that, though, I guess I would have to say my eyes or my curly hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

For books I'm kind of all over the place. I like a lot of contemporary English writers a lot like Rushdie, Ishiguro, and Kureishi. I still love Harry Potter and that's never going to change. A Song of Ice and Fire took over my life for a solid 8 months last year and it's killing me that I'm going to have to wait several years to finish that series. Vonnegut is another one of my favorite writers but I need to read a few more of his books to say I've read most of them.

My taste in movies is more narrow. I love indie movies. I can't really get into too many romantic comedies and I think action movies are a waste of time. I enjoy a movie that stirs some kind of emotional response because I still consider the medium an art form and not just a way for studios to make money. Directors I enjoy: Kubrik, Nolan, Aronofsky, Affleck (...seriously), Raimi, Favreou, etc. (Marvel movies are exempt from my judgement because I love almost all of them.)

TV: Community, Parks and Rec, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, The Newsroom... Most HBO shows really. Aside from that, I'll watch a series on Netflix and not really get too invested in it.

Music: I love indie and folk. I mostly listen to Pandora with bands I love as the station and I love finding out about new bands that will pop up.

Bands: Two Door Cinema Club, Mumford & Sons, Iron & Wine, Bon Iver, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, Empire of the Sun, Pinback, The National, Miike Snow, Radiohead, Local Natives, Yeasayer, Arcade Fire, Gorillaz, Horse Feathers, Silversun Pickups, Childish Gambino, Bombay Bicycle Club, At the Drive-In, Death from Above 1979, so on and so forth. (Hey! You've read this far? Thanks! This is actually the most important section for me and thankfully the only one I haven't edited since creating this profile!)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) Coffee
2) Music
3) Film
4) The written word
5) Friends
6) Being a smart-ass
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Space, the human condition, social interaction... It's kind of difficult to map out my mind like that. I'm a huge space nerd because I think it's just unbelievably fascinating.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Bah
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
