My self-summary
A good friend looked over my profile and said, "meh. I don't really know anything about you."

Ok, fair enough. So I'm going start thinking about what to put here.
What I’m doing with my life
In between collecting every track DJ Pumpkin has ever played or remixed, during the week you'll find me working with a major media company in SOMA as a senior software architect. I also run a company in the sustainability field and often speak publicly to community groups, conferences and the occasional political body.

Every once in a while I enjoy writing peer-reviewed papers on the world energy system and riding my motorcycle exploring California. Not at the same time, mind you.

My current kick is learning about ancestral nutrition, which was introduced to me by the paleo diet. In short, I'm pretty geeky in the following areas: computers, the global energy system, human nutrition, and the finer points of planning the perfect music campout weekend.
I’m really good at
I write well, speak easily in front of large groups, connect with people wherever they are at and like to dance.

I travel well, too, which to me means I'm good at balancing planning and spontaneity, when to spend some cash and when to conserve it for later in the trip, enjoy staying in unique places that cost some $'s and when to stay cheap and spend no time in the hotel. Some of the places I've visited are Australia, Italy, Austria, Guatemala, and all over Canada and the US, and, of course, BRC. Hmmm....kind of a short list. I think I'm going to have to get on that.

My last GF told me I'm the best communicator she's ever been with, so I suppose I'm good at that, too.

BUT, I'm not always very intuitive with the female intentions and this can lead to either hilarity or disappointment. It's best if you assume I want it spelled out. I know: good communicator but a little slow? Go figure. I blame my parents and thalidomide.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile and laugh a lot. I make friends easily. Random person at the bustop? Check. How about the *bus driver*? Check. Random person at a show? Check. Probably some more checks I can't think of right now.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I was compiling a list for a friend of the music/dance events that I've been to at least once in the past two years. If you like music festivals and dancing, we should plan to check one out together. Anyway, here's the list:
∙ Various Brass Tax events throughout the year (including the Halloween After Party)
∙ Breakfast of Champions (New Years After Party)
∙ How Weird Street Faire
∙ Superhero Street Fair
∙ Burning Man; sorry, fellow Burners, for reducing Burning Man to a "music/dance event"
∙ Various Sunset picnics (Stafford Lake)
∙ 3 Degrees Campout
∙ False Profit Spring/Summer Training Events
∙ Priceless Campout
∙ The Bounce Festival
∙ Lightening in a Bottle
And new for me this year...High Sierra and Nowhere, in Spain. Really looking forward to both of them. High Sierra has been on my list for a while and I'm inspired by the idea of seeing the nacent European BM before it gets too big. I'll likely be a roving Angel of Acknowledgement so it's time to get my costume in gear (ask me if you're curious).

Lest you think I go only to those events, trips to wine country, ski trips to Tahoe, visits to Vancouver, camping trips to Yosemite, etc. all happen in between.

I'm currently reading the Best American Nonrequired Reading 2012 anthology and I Capture the Castle.

I like all sorts of food but since I went paleo have cut out wheat and other grains. I used to make a killer thin-crust pizza but that was based on wheat flour and other my attempts to use coconut flour and other flours have failed, leaving me sad in the kitchen and with very hungry guests.

I do cook and enjoy cooking with wine. Occasionally I put some in the food.

Favorite comic...tough call, but Eddie Izzard cracks me up every time:

The six things I could never do without
∙ the interwebs
∙ NPR
∙ dance music
∙ wine
∙ personal transformation
∙ weekend getaways
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to get our civilization off fossil fuels. And planning my next weekend away.
On a typical Friday night I am
Attending a lecture on the history of Wonder Woman at the Center for Sex and Culture (ahem, there's more to Wonder Woman than you might think at first), seeing a band, dancing at a club or event, attending a house party, having dinner with friends, setting up camp, cooking, showing an out-of-town friend the city, checking out a new bar, and, reading a good book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have Old Spice deodorant in the bathroom and have grown fond of the smell in the morning. That's what a six-pack at Costco that was too cheap to pass up will do to you.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30–44
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You freely admit to being occasionally dorky and you're up for some fun dates, great conversations and are looking for some adventure weekend getaways. Also, you should be open to open relationships (polyamory).
