My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Complex fun person with many interests, passionate and busy but not workaholic. I've been transitioning from parenthood and would like some companionship. My cats can only go so far with conversation.
Irreverent and rebellious in the nicest way, you will like me if you don't take yourself too seriously either. In another setting, i.e. my office, I can be professional and productive, creative and caring. I have strong feelings about progressive politics so look out if you want to defend the global elite. I've lived all over the world, I'm educated and continue to be curious. Love dancing, art, making art (photography, mixed media, film-making), being with children, swimming, racketball (not well), reading, being sensual and sexual, bike-riding, films, live theater. Would love to have a co-conspirator to share adventure, intimacy, and questions we will never hope to answer.
One way to describe me would be Explorer, since I love learning new things, both about the world, and the interior landscape of our minds and souls. So I'm looking to love and be loved by someone special who has a lot of courage and spunk. Someone who will keep up with me and who I have to keep up with too - squeezing the juice out of life and also lying sweetly side by side at day's end. But until that evolves, lovely new and interesting friends and lovers who come my way are also welcome. I am, like many people, attempting to grow in important ways and do creative work, so I enjoy mutual support.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living by the beach with an amazing bay view where I spend a lot of time. Working at several things, including creative endeavors, and keeping in touch with two grown children who I adore. Now that the weather is warming up, I'm swimming in the bay, which is pretty glorious. Professionally, I'm writing, making videos, and training & consulting on recovering from fundamentalist religions. A new screenplay has me pretty excited. I try to commit to projects that will make the world a better place and are also fun and challenging for my creative side. More travel is important too; the next major trip will probably be to south China where I have family history. I still speak a little Mandarin from growing up in Taiwan.
Re. the "personality" displayed by the OKCupid bars here, I must protest since it makes me look like a druggy, which I am not, and I don't know how that works. I'm ok with occasional 420, that's all, and supportive of others' medical use.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being a good friend or lover, seeing the absurd humor in things, coming up with crazy ideas, defending the underdog, being late, looking at the big picture
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
playfulness, intelligence, warmth, intensity
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
loving, swimming, dancing, dreaming, pushing limits, questioning, creating
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Seriously? what kind of a world my children will be living in fifty years from now, how the brain works, evolutionary psychology, the illusion of "self" and being multiples, the power of sex, the quest for a theory of everything, the beauty of fractals and the details of quantum mechanics, string theory, and Schrodinger's Cat (yes, I got carried away there but I do enjoy mind-boggling science). I'm also busy saving the world from fundamentalism so that's a big job. and why does a Ph.D. have so much ADD? i've been told that if I were organized I'd be dangerous. I guess it's just as well then.

You have lots of brain, heart, and libido - all three. (I'm not asking for much :-) Extra points if you have spent time outside the U.S. as more than a tourist and if you might smile at a sign reading, "eschew obfuscation." More seriously, I get along best with people who have a progressive (leftist) social consciousness and global awareness. Please don't try to convince me that we should or could avoid politics; I don't think there is a line separating personal from political. But. . . this doesn't mean we can't relax and get silly, sensuous, or even wild and crazy. :-) "Life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived." Joseph Campbell
