My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
It's a nice, albeit warm Houston morning as I'm typing this on my back porch. I'm still a little bleary-eyed. There is literally a rooster in the distance far more awake than myself ready to embrace the day. He's an inspiration.

I'm a half-awake dreamer who wants to see the world. I want to see ancient cities by water and by foot. People still fascinate me because I believe that in their hearts, they are mostly good people and I can learn from the histories they're willing to share.

I follow my gut and it leads me to something tasty, which nourishes me in more ways than one. I'm hoping to find someone to share them.

If the previous text is any indication, I can be pretentious at times but I like to think of myself as open-minded and honest, unable to remove my heart from my sleeve (despite my cardiologist's advice), and living to experience what life has to offer.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My life is experiencing a Renaissance. I just moved to Houston this June. I'm working, considering getting back in school, meeting new people, and looking for new hangouts.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Communicating. Some people wait to talk. I listen because a good laugh, a display of empathy, and exchanging thoughts and dreams drive me. I'm a good, creative cook. No two recipes are ever the same. I'm a good kisser but you don't have to take my word for it. Fiction writing, or at least, time will tell.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
To be honest, I'm not really sure. Feel free to tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
When it comes to lists of favorites, I keep mine maleable.
Of books, I really love The Dune Series. Overall favorite may be Les Miserables. Other faves in no particular order are Hitchhikers Guide, The Vampire Lestat, The Witching Hour, The Dark Tower Series, The Three Musketeers, everything by Asimov, Frankenstein, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, 1984. The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, Weaveworld, and Imajica.

Current favorite movie is probably The Fountain. Other favorites are Star Wars original trilogy, Stranger Than Fiction, Pulp Fiction, The Dark Knight trilogy, The Life Aquatic, Django Unchained, Kill Bill, The Iron Giant, Ghost in the Shell, The Fistful of Dollars trilogy, Animatrix, Step-Brothers, Space Balls, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Black Swan, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Watchmen, Moonrise Kingdom, Eternal Sunshine, The Wrestler, Jaws, Hellraiser, Fear and Loathing, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou, Holy Grail, A.I, Bicentennial Man, What Dreams May Come, The Wizard of Oz, and recently Her.

On Tv, I like Daily show and Colbert, Tosh, Inside Amy Shumer, nature documentaries (i.e. Blue Planet), both Cosmos, Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory, Dr. Who, The Simpsons, Southpark. Throwbacks include Lost, X-Files, The original Twilight Zone, Tales From the Crypt, That 70's Show, Carnivale, Dead Like Me.

I love all music. These days I find myself listening to Iron and Wine, Death Cab for Cutie, Flobots, Jack Johnson, Miles Davis, Nekromantix, The Ventures, Dick Dale, The Dubliners, Old Crow Medicine Show, The J.B's, Atmosphere, and otherwise the most unlikely variance imaginable. My metal staples (pardon the pun) would include (hed)pe, Mushroomhead (each of whom I've seen about 10 times each), Deftones and Tool. I've also seen Flogging Molly about 10 times. You stop counting after a while. I would really love to see Muse and Rammstein but the timing hasn't yet been good. I'm a lifelong Beatlemaniac. Others are Sublime, The Cramps, 311, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1: Many of my friends have become family and I consider much of my family to be friends. Can't live without them. 2: Reading material. I love to read. 3: Travel. I have to see new places and new peoples. 4: Food. Obviously, I'd die without it, but I do live to eat. 5: Water. Another obvious one, but I feel at peace on the beach, on the river, etc. 6: Adventure.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The below are some random thoughts I've had

I keep trying to convince people that I'm funny, but no one takes me seriously.

I can be optimistic. When life gives you lemons, at least you know you won't be getting scurvy.

I bet zombie porn has more moaning and grunting than other porn.

Sometimes, I like to startle spiders, just to make sure that they're more afraid of me than I am of them.

Sometimes, I like to go to restaurants by myself then request separate checks.

Sometimes I like to shop exclusively from other people's basket. I figure if they like it, it's worth trying.

My homeboys tried to warn me but these jokes I got make me so corny.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Working often enough. But otherwise, checking into a dive for a good beer, looking for live music, hungering for a burger, and hoping for good conversation.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm fairly oblivious to a woman's interest in me. Don't be afraid to be obvious.
