I love learning new things...it doesn't matter what. I get just as excited about learning to throw a Frisbee as I do about studying a new discriminatory ideology. I particularly like learning about other people...really understanding why they like what they like or do what they do. This is probably why I am so interested in studying ideology :) It also means that I tend to ask a lot of questions...and I'm missing that bone in my head that tells me when it is too personal :)

I have a bizarre and occasionally inappropriate sense of humour. It has been known to be a little self-deprecating at times, but mostly I just see humour in life where other people don't :)

I'm honest...almost to a fault.

I don't list a body type in the details section of this profile...mostly because I don't like the options. If I had to choose a word to describe my body, it'd be Rubenesque. I'm also athletic, but that has nothing to do with my body type :)

I'm a PhD student, mostly studying genocide and human rights abuses with the hopes of preventing them. Once I get my PhD, who knows what life will bring but I hope it involves massive challenges and a ton of travel :)

When I'm not working on my PhD, I'm taking advantage of the university pool :) I try to spend about five hours a week there.

1) Thinking very very far outside the box :)
2) Swimming...but not fast anymore :)
3) Cooking...even sometimes creating my own recipes
4) Acting...I used to be an actress. NOTE: I am a terrible liar...

My eyes when I'm not wearing my glasses. I have no idea why :) They do change colour though.

If not my eyes...my hair. It is long.

Personality-wise: the things people usually notice about me first are often the things they realise they misunderstood when they get to know me better :)

Books: I couldn't pick just one! I love reading...I have so many books in my apartment that I don't know where to put them all (although a good chunk of them are library books). When I'm not reading for school, I like to read novels...something very light-hearted that can give me a break from the stuff I read for work. I am passionate about what I do, and find my reading fascinating - but sometimes it is nice to read about people who don't want to kill each other :)

Movies: This changes every day, but today it is the latest Star Trek movie. I'm also a fan of Bond movies.

Music: I actually like almost all music. I prefer music that I can sing along with or that has a beat. My favourite is classical - any of the passionate Russians.

Food: Lobster and chocolate - not together.

My ability to think...I've tried...it was horrible.

Having life around me...I prefer people and pets, but plants will do in a pinch.

Books. I love to read and go a little crazy (crazier?) when I can't.

Something to challenge me. I like life to be a little difficult - not desperate...but to have something to work towards is good.

A really good hug once in a while.

An internet connection or a phone...(I am happy to do without for a few weeks at a time...but I like to keep in touch with the people I love)

Yeah, I know, everybody says that...but I mean it ;)

At home...I prefer to go out when I don't have to fight the drunken masses to do it. At the end of the week, I'd rather stay home and cuddle in front of a movie or something. On other days, when I'm more energetic, I'm happy with anything from a picnic to an elegant dinner...trying a new sport...learning to rollerblade...going swimming..etc etc.

I sometimes wish I could join the circus...but I don't have any useful circus skills.

My best friend sometimes calls me 'the empress of the universe'

I had an imaginary friend when I was little and I still think about him.

I'm a hopeless romantic.
