My self-summary Propose an edit
I am a world of silly and serious paradoxes. And then sometimes I'm
not. I enjoy silliness but I have uttered the phrase "that's not
funny." Not often, but occasionally. The world can be a really
scary, sometimes saddening place and I worry for its future, and it
is also wonderful and friendly, an endless source of fun and beauty
and everything has an upside. Spelling and punctuation errors annoy
the crap out of me and yet in second grade I mispelled the word
"of" on a spelling test (seriously!). I also just misspelled the
word misspelled, and if you were planning on telling me that then I
can see myself falling in love with you.
I love arguing, it's one of my favorite forms of play. I enjoy uncommon words; I think they're "good." I enjoy other languages and have been known to throw in a phrase in some random language if I feel the conversation will be better served by doing so. Sometimes I even understand the language I use. I also find silly cartoons endlessly amusing. And I love explaining very trivial and/or simple things in excruciating detail. In short, I will keep you on your toes and I really hope you will do the same for me.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I am doing as much as I can with it, except for evenings when I
watch television and play video games. And mornings when I like to
sleep in. And some afternoons when I like to procrastinate. In and
around these things I am working on my career as a stage
director--theater is my main passion in life--and to encourage
people to start paying me for that, here I am in grad school.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Making people smile, finding the bright side, rooting out the
kernel of silliness deep inside a situation
(sometimes not so deep inside), over-analyzing, rationalizing, and
rambling. Also directing, I would certainly hope. Oh, and I'm
really good at origami. And rambling.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
The brilliant radiating aura of supreme divine light that
surrounds me at all times. Particularly at night.
For a serious answer, you'll have to ask them. All of them.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Y'know, since they put in more categories, I've taken to skimming people's lists rather than really reading everything they wrote in this section. But just in case you're not doing the same, let's try a few:
Master and Margarita, any of the four Kundera novels that I've read, The Count of Monte Cristo, and virtually anything by Bill Bryson, Bill James, and William Goldman (his nonfiction...haven't read his novels yet, though I have read several screenplays).
Isn't it odd that my top three nonfiction authors are all named William?
Sneakers is my favorite movie. There has virtually never been a time when, if someone said, "hey, you wanna watch Sneakers?" I'd say "nah, not really in the mood." There are other movies I recognize as being weightier, but really, how often are you in the mood to sit down and watch all of Yojimbo? (for example).
I am so absurdly out of touch with music I'm about two steps away from saying, "There's this new young fella out of Austria, name of Mozart something." I like all kinds of stuff, I just don't know what most of it is. Dylan's good, obviously. I've been getting more into jazz this past year. And I like showtunes. Yeah, I said it.
Sing, "one of these things is not like the others..." Books, movies, music...and food. Do they mean favorite food to watch or listen to? As a point of interest, I remember hearing once about how fresh fruit was the most perfect food because it's good on all the senses. They taste good; most fruits are pretty to look at; they smell good; umm, some of them feel good I guess, but let's not get kinky just yet. And hearing. Ok, forget hearing. Still. Anyway, to answer the question, I like a lot of foods, but I love pasta. And my favorite vegetable is corn. Now you know everything.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
1. My list of the six things I could never do without (in case I
forget the others)
2. Books. Lots of books.
2 1/2. Bookcases (Well...)
3. Ellipses (I'm not quite sure why, but it's true...)
(parentheses seem to be a common theme as well...)
4. People I love (though I imagine they'd object to being
included in a list of "things"...)
5. Silliness (and accompanying laughter, chuckles, smiles,
eye-rolling, jumping up and clapping hands, etc.)
6. Seriousness (for balance and because thinking is really important too. And sometimes you just need to breathe a bit.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Whatever play I'm working on, other things I should be doing. Why
I'm not doing them.
Truth be told, this question was easier to answer when it was the
brain one and I could complain about it being badly phrased... That
may or may not give you some further insight into my personality.
Also, they told me my profile would be more complete if I added "[
[interests] ]." I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, but
since I just was...

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm in a really shameless mood as I write this, but the back of my
brain is telling me not to act on that. Perhaps just that I am a
lot more laid back than I may be coming across. (Not really
private, except that it may not have been immediately apparent
otherwise).
You should message me if Propose an edit
You're bored with normality, normalcy, normalitude,
normaliciousness, normalitudinosity, and all accompanying banality.
It's been too long since you had a good argument. You have a good
backup guess when I tell you my screenname has nothing to do with
any Alighieri, and just to get you really confused, not Kevin Smith
either. And most of all if you want to know exactly how I managed
to misspell "of" in second grade.
