My self-summary

Former military officer applying to medical school.

I've lived abroad a fair amount of time and learned that I feel most alive when I am out encountering new people, new cultures, new thoughts that challenge my ways of thinking on the world.

I have no intention of being the 'other guy' and I don't seek to fit into some box or preconception the world might have.

As for what I like to do on my off time, I'm as happy going hiking in the mountains as much as I am having drinks overlooking the beach. A quiet night watching movies or a road trip to go explore...I'm interested in living for the moment.

I'm on here looking for someone with similar values, someone who I would hit it off with and see where things take us.

Life is for living, not wondering at what could have happened.
What I’m doing with my life
Getting ready for medical school

Mostly I'm working full-time during the week as a medical assistant.

Time Off: motorcycling, work out/practice martial arts, read (a lot), and play with my dog.

When I can I like to be out in nature to clear my thoughts. Staring at the ocean puts everything in perspective.

I’m really good at
Hard question to answer; I try to be pretty good at lots of things rather than a master of a few.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose you need to ask other people, eh?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A couple...

Far too many to list. I love reading.

O Brother Where Art Thou?
Les Miserables
The Princess Bride
The Life Aquatic
The Big Lebowski
Lord of the Rings
Pan's Labrynth
Grandma's Boy
The Wind That Shakes the Barley
Remember the Titans
The Last Samurai
Almost anything by Akira Kurosawa
Black Dynamite
Kingdom of Heaven

Most documentaries. I don't watch too much tv as of late. Absolute favorites are: Blue Planet and Planet Earth, hosted by David Attenborough. When I get down, watching nature shows makes me smile for some reason.

Tool, John Legend and The Roots, Flogging Molly, Radiohead, Muse, Temple of the Dog, Jackson Browne, Phil Ochs, Counting Crows, Wallflowers, Modest Mouse, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nirvana Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Michael Franti, Dawes, Stone Sour, Seether, Alice in Chains, Decembrists, Phantogram, Civil Wars, and most grunge/alt that comes on the radio.

Celtic music, blues/R&B, or classical when I want to chill out.

My grandmother's cooking (Hungarian)

Thai, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Ethiopian, Mediterranean/Middle Eastern

The best food is the food that's in front of you!
The six things I could never do without
Nature, traveling, pets/animals, learning, good friends, and family (though they can drive me crazy). Not necessarily in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and where I want it to go. If you don't know who you are or what you are looking for, how do you know you're going the right way?

Wishing I was out backpacking in Alaska, Acadia National Park, or the Kancamagus instead of staring at chemistry equations.
On a typical Friday night I am
A phone call away.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't always message first? I guess its because I can be shy sometimes.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're willing to say hello?

You're someone who is outgoing, cares about helping others, intelligent, and you want to do things in life...not watch other people do it. You want to have a hell of a lot of fun with someone along the way.

You're a real person, not a stereotype.

Some ideas:

You see it as perfectly reasonable to say "@#$% it, we're buying cider doughnuts/maple sugar candy/homemade ice cream and taking a drive up to Kennebunkport/Boston/Portland."

You're willing to debate the meaning of life/philosophy over drinks. Or hookah/shisha. Or hummus.
