Some stream of consciousness about me . . .

I believe that art makes life worth living. I believe that life is too short (and too long) to spend time with people we don't really, really love. I believe in doing what makes the best memories.

I think self respect is the sexiest quality a woman can have.

I believe in the healing power of naps.

I've performed improv comedy semi professionally rather a lot since I was in high school.

I run a business called 'Marketing for Hippies'.

And it's a good job because I'm drawn to bohemian, off-beat, eclectic, creative types. artists, writers, poets, dancers, hair-stylists, models, crafters, photographers, musicians and actors. people with their own sense of style. and i meet a lot of them which keeps things interesting.

I'm a big fan of the taste of a hot cup of strong peppermint tea with honey and the smell of beeswax candles (it reminds me of the hippy Waldorf elementary school i went to).

I love hosting potlucks, bonfires and picnics for my favourite people (and seeing them meet each other for the first time). Amazing people + amazing people = shitstorm of awesome.

I love nestling in by the window of my favourite cafe while I work on my macbook and people-watch. i can do this all. day. long. and i love how the servers bring me a big cup of my favourite chai latte without asking because it's what i always order. they know.

I am amazed with how quickly a new city can charm me. how there are parts of the world that - inexplicably - call to me. right now Italy is calling me. And I have no idea why.

I love how poetry can say so much with so few words.

Again - I LOVE discovering new music and how songs have become inextricably connected with moments and people in my life. current favourites include: elliott smith, ani difranco, the national, the shins, bon iver, sun kil moon, the books, jose gonzales, amiina, james blake, wilco, amelia curran, andrew bird, the arcade fire, dark dark dark, edward sharpe, great lake swimmers, laura marling, mumford and sons, ola podrida, the shins, zero 7, first aid kit, the weepies.

I love natural and handmade things. old wooden things. vintage anything. anything with a story. old fashioned suitcases. the smell of old books. old wicker picnic baskets. hand written letters. with echoes of other times. everything has a story.

I value honesty, empathy and people who don't take themselves too seriously - people with a magical sparkle in their eye who make everyone around them feel special and uplifted because they are so curious about them. I like people who wear bow ties and play the banjo. I dig mix tapes and people who can introduce me to my new favourite band. I'm also a big fan of people with hustle who can keep their promises and make things happen.

If you have an almost frightening love of music, the perfect cup of chai and long walks in the valley (and climbing trees) perhaps we should hang out.

I run a business called 'Marketing for Hippies'. I work with green, local, holistic and indie business types and help them figure out ways to get more of the kinds of clients they're looking for (without selling their soul). I do some of that over the internet and phone but also travel all over Canada (and some parts of Europe) leading workshops. I've been at it for about ten years because I love being self employed and I think our world needs more of those kinds of businesses to succeed. And because, every day, i meet some new inspiring person, somewhere in the world, who is doing another incredible project. It's the kind of job where I never stop learning and it never stops challenging me.

I have a bizarrely strong memory for jokes. I can go for two and half hours (we timed it one new years). I have a nerdy love of doctor who - the world's longest running sci-fi show. i started watching it as a child and just. can't. stop. I've had a lifelong fascination with celtic history and culture and I speak Scottish Gaelic. It's true. I've performed improv comedy semi professionally rather a lot since I was in high school.
