My self-summary
I'll open with this lil' gem that never fails...

Now that I've most likely won you over, lemme tell you a little bit about myself.

I like to enjoy life by living in the moment and not taking it too seriously. Yes, I can be serious. I just try to enjoy the few years I have on this planet by doing what I love (as any human being should). I'm into being outdoors, disc golfing with friends, all forms of art, films, improv, retro video games, comics, holding nothing back at karaoke, eating too much at all you can eat restaurants, getting too deep into Renaissance fairs, listening to great course lectures too often, and almost anything having to do with science (real or sci fi) and fantasy. I'm a creative person and like to meet others of like minds.

On top of all that jazz, I've been training in Kung Fu for 15 years now. What started as a passion has now grown into a way of life. It gives me the drive to set knew increasingly difficult goals for myself both physically and mentally, and has without a doubt helped shape me into who I am.

Music is another passion of mine, and I don't use that word lightly. I play the drums, mandolin, piano and sing in my band Fade Up Fade Out Bye Bye. I'll admit, our sound is pretty fucked up, haha. If I had to describe our music I guess it's similar to Frank Zappa. We're like a jazz/funk/rock band that doesn't mind throwing some hip hop/blues/french café in the mix. What I’m doing with my life
I'm a professional martial arts instructor, so basically I get paid to do what I love. I teach group classes and private lessons six days a week, so my free time is usually late nights and weekends.
I also play live shows with the band when I can (they're mostly down in LA so it can be tough to make the time). Our second album just came out on vinyl (oooooh ahhhhh) and dropped on iTunes, so that's cool I guess.
I’m really good at
Balancing objects and finishing off entire cartons of strawberries in one sitting
*not necessarily at the same time
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm all about sci-fi/fantasy: Robert E. Howard, H. P. Lovecraft, J. R. R. Tolkein, George R. R. Martin, Lord Dunsany, Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Music: STEELY DAN (worth the capitalization), Mahavishnu Orchestra, Parliament, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Queen (hands down, Freddie Mercury is the greatest rock singer of all time, and I will never accept other-wise…but Daryl Hall comes damn close), David Bowie, The Beatles (I was raised on Abbey Road), Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Rush, Mars Volta, Mastodon, Red Hot Chili Peppers (but nothing after Blood Sugar Sex Magik), Primus, Black Sabbath, the Sword, Tyr, Van Halen, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Holst...I'll stop here.

I enjoy watching films of varying degrees of quality. From the thought provoking Kubrick masterpiece 2001: A Space Oddity to the introspective gaze of Van Damme in Bloodsport, they all have their merits. I can never have enough Bill Murray or Gene Wilder, Jim Henson was a visionary, and many praises to the gods of action, Arnold, Sly, Jen Claude, and Jackie.
The six things I could never do without
-Beatboxing (I'm not that good, I just can't stop)
-Animal friends
-IPA (technically, I could live without IPAs. I just really don't want to)
-Ren Faire
-Arbitrarily listing things I need in life
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Truthfully, I think about bettering myself. There is so much room for growth, both physically and mentally, that choosing not to discover my potential seems like a waste.

But hell, there are days when "discovering my potential" means sitting on a couch, shrouded in a blanket and watching Netflix. Self discovery is not an exact science, people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Training at my Kung Fu academy and then usually hanging with friends.
