My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'll open with this lil' gem that never fails...

Okay. Now that I have you completely hooked, let me say that you have the most beautiful eyes...I'm guessing.

Okay. Good. My spell of seduction is almost complete. In fact, the rest of this profile is practically inconsequential.

Okay. Wait. It seems I can't take these self summaries so seriously. What will work when what we want is wasted with words? This debacle doth deter my dearest of desires.

I'm sorry. That went too far. I hope this won't be an issue.

My name's Josh. I have many interests: disc golf, hiking, art, film, improv, retro video games, history and WHY things are put together the way they are, and almost anything having to do with science fiction or fantasy. I have an inquisitive nature, and enjoy looking at life from many angles. However, of all the things I do, there are two activities that I love the most: martial arts and music.

Back in high school, I started taking classes in Kung Fu and instantly fell in love with the style. It guided me through difficult times, and gave me a glimpse of my own potential. I had never really applied myself up until that point, so this was like opening the floodgates of my untapped energy. I dove head first into the art, and continue to train in kung fu to this day...just laying that on the table, haha. I may risk sounding like a motivational speaker, but starting Kung Fu was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Music is my other passion, and I don't use that word lightly. Music truly is the voice of the soul. It gives us a way to connect with others by conveying emotions through sound, and can tell us a lot about who we are. I play the drums, mandolin, and piano in my band Fade Up Fade Out Bye Bye. I'll admit, we're kind of fucked up sounding, haha. If I had to describe our sound I would say it's similar to Frank Zappa. We're like a jazz/funk/rock band that doesn't mind throwing some hip hop/blues/french café in there. It's all for the love of making music, though.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a professional martial arts instructor, so basically I get paid to do what I love. I teach group classes and private lessons six days a week, so my free time is usually late nights and weekends.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Balancing objects
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm all about sci-fi/fantasy: Robert E. Howard, H. P. Lovecraft, J. R. R. Tolkein, George R. R. Martin, Lord Dunsany, Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Music: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Steely Dan, Frank Zappa, Queen (hands down, Freddie Mercury is the greatest rock singer of all time, and I will never accept other-wise…but Daryl Hall comes damn close), David Bowie, The Beatles (especially Abbey Road), Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Mars Volta, Mastodon, Red Hot Chili Peppers (but nothing after Blood Sugar Sex Magik), Primus, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Black Sabbath, the Sword, Tyr, Van Halen, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Holst...I'll stop here.

I enjoy watching films of varying degrees of quality. From the thought provoking Kubrick masterpiece 2001: A Space Oddity to the introspective gaze of Van Damme in Bloodsport, they all have their merits. I can never have enough Bill Murray or Gene Wilder, Jim Henson was visionary, and many praises to the gods of action, Arnold, Sly, Jen Claude, and Jackie.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Beatboxing (I'm not that good, I just can't stop)
-Animal friends
-IPA (technically, I could live without IPAs. I just really don't want to)
-Ren Faire
-Arbitrarily listing things I need in life
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Truthfully, I think about bettering myself. There is so much room for growth, both physically and mentally, that choosing not to discover my potential seems like a waste.

But hell, there are days when "discovering my potential" means sitting on a couch, shrouded in a blanket and watching Netflix. Self discovery is not an exact science, people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Training at my Kung Fu academy and then usually hanging with friends.

You should message me if you made it this far through my profile. Bravo to you, miss. I'm a unique little criss-cut fry in a container full of ordinary fries. Yes, I used fries as an analogy for my personality. No, I don't think that is an effective way to appeal to women. Yes, I'm keeping it anyway.
