My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I suppose I'll start with hello. I've been told I'm interesting. So there's that. I wouldn't go so far as to say I drink Dos Equis, though.

How I do: martial artist, musician, improvisor, cartoonist, bad but fully committed karaoke singer, movie goer, hiker, disc golfer, ale lover (not ready to take that step to connoisseur).

I've been studying Kung Fu for over 10 years. The majority of my day is dedicated to training and teaching, and I've been to China several times for various tournaments and exhibitions. Just laying that on the table. I may risk sounding like a motivational speaker, but starting Kung Fu was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Disclaimer: I lack the ability and desire to catch a fly with chopsticks, so please don't ask.

I play the drums, mandolin, and piano (adequately). I jam with friends as well as write music. Even exploring new instruments is fun. If I pick up a new instrument, I can usually figure it out…as in I'll figure out how to play obnoxiously mediocre music on it.

My favorite muppet is Gonzo, with Animal as a close second. That bit of information wasn't really necessary, and yet it shall remain...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a professional martial arts instructor, so basically I get paid to do what I love. I teach group classes and private lessons six days a week, so my free time is usually late nights and weekends.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-Balancing objects
-Napping: expert level
-Getting carried away (figuratively (although literally is fun, too (I'm just not as good at it)))
-Using parenthesis like I'm setting up little forcefields around my tangential thoughts
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'm a big fan of science fiction and fantasy literature: Robert E. Howard, J. R. R. Tolkein, George R. R. Martin, H. P. Lovecraft. I would be interested in expanding my book collection if you know of some good literature.

I also enjoy comics. When done right, they fulfill a particular roll in story telling that no other medium can capture without loosing something integral to the overall experience. Plus, the drawings are super cool, and stuff. Don't hate.

Music: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Steely Dan, Frank Zappa, Queen (hands down, Freddie Mercury is the greatest rock singer of all time, and I will never accept other-wise…but Daryl Hall comes damn close), David Bowie, The Beatles (especially Abbey Road), Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Mars Volta, Mastodon, Red Hot Chili Peppers (but nothing after Blood Sugar Sex Magik), Primus, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Black Sabbath, the Sword, Tyr, Van Halen, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Holst.

Movies: Ghostbusters, Stripes, Groundhogs Day, just Bill Murray in general, Young Frankenstein, The Labyrinth, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hobbit (animated), Conan, Predator, Total Recall, Bloodsport, Rocky, Rambo, Thirteenth Warrior, Heavy Metal, They Live, The Thing, Point Break, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Oddity, A Clockwork Orange, Jurassic Park, Dead Poets Society.

Now that I look at these lists, I suppose it doesn't really mean anything. I'm a person open to new ideas. Just because I've never seen this, read that, eaten those, or been there doesn't mean I automatically don't like it. Unless cilantro is involved...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Kung Fu
-Friends and family
-Pliny the Elder (if the assholes who camp out overnight at Whole Foods don't buy it all first)
-Ren Faire
-Arbitrarily listing things one needs in life
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Truthfully, I think about bettering myself. There is so much room for growth, both physically and mentally, that choosing not to discover my potential seems like a waste.

But hell, there are days when "discovering my potential" means sitting on a couch, shrouded in a blanket and watching Netflix. Self discovery is not an exact science, people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Training at my Kung Fu academy and then usually hanging with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've performed the entire movie Conan the Barbarian, line for line, as a one man show while dressed up in costume for a friend's birthday at a random bar in Oregon. This isn't something I consider very private, but it's the first thing that popped in my head, so make do.

You should message me if you made it this far through my profile. Bravo to you, miss. I'm a unique little criss-cut fry in a container full of ordinary fries. Yes, I used fries as an analogy for my personality. No, I don't think that is an effective way to appeal to women. Yes, I'm keeping it anyway.
