My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
**Oh man, I haven't been on here in quite a while. Been super busy with life, you know how that goes. My social calendar is pretty full up these days, so unless we are just a stellar match... Anyway, one of the things that keeps me busy is that I started a meetup group called Poly Cocktails Houston specifically for polyamorous folks (and poly -curious or poly-friendly). This is just a meet and greet, no set or formal agenda, just a chance to meet up with other like minded folks and chat. It is specifically /not/ a cruise or a sex party and any kind of open sexual activity is not allowed. If this sounds like the kind of thing that interests you, you can hit me up or check us out on or Facebook.**

I read quite a bit. I enjoy being social and staying busy. I always have a bunch of projects that I am working on. I enjoy bicycle rides and great conversation. I have been know to indulge in a little irony from time to time. I love laughing from deep in my belly and will do it whenever something strikes me as funny regardless of whether anyone else is doing it or not. I rarely fit in terribly well in any social circles, but I am way comfortable with this fact. I can curse enough to make a sailor blush but I also know when to turn it off.

I feel like I should make a note in here early on. While I am listed as a Buddhist, that is only because it would not let me list Atheist-Buddhist. I practice Zen Buddhism (of the Soto variety) but I very much do not believe in any kind of supernatural powers or deities, cosmic forces or magical thinking. Atoms and empty spaces, that's all there is.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just spent 20 minutes cutting and pasting randomly generated sentences into the moderation comments on here. I hope it makes someone else laugh. Or annoys them. Either way is fine with me.

I work, I live in a co-op focused on sustainable living, I meditate a lot. I love reading and am an absolute glutton for good conversation. I really enjoy riding my bicycle (yes, it's fixed, shut up) and working out. I have a wide variety of interests but that doesn't mean I am interested in everything.

I suppose the co-op thing totally deserves to be expounded on a little bit. I live in a house with 14 other people. It's cool though because the house is huge and we all have our own rooms. We share labor and upkeep on the house. They are awesome, incredible people and it is really my privilege to get to live with them.

I have a '97 Honda VLX 600 that has been pretty heavily modified. I do love riding my motorcycle but I can't take you for a ride. It only has one seat.

I also spend a pretty good amount of time volunteering with NOW doing clinic defense and escorting clients into the building.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Finding common ground even with people that are way different than me.
The first things people usually notice about me

Probably all the tattoos. I really hate it when people I don't know think that it is ok to just come up and touch me or ask me a bunch of really personal questions about them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read a lot on a wide variety of topics. I am totally on a postmodern sci-fi kick right now: Snow Crash, Neuromancer, The Blind Assassin, Gravity's Rainbow. I read Sex at Dawn recently and I really liked it. Some of my favorites in Foucault, Baudrillard, Judith Butler, Spivak, The Ethical Slut, The New Jim Crow, China Mieville, books about Zen and Buddhism. I just picked up a book called The Red Thread that is all about Buddhist approaches to sex and sexuality. I'm way excited to get into that. I loved House of Leaves, A Confederacy of Dunces, pretty much everything by Kafka and Murakami.

I really don't watch that much in the way of movies and tv. I am not averse to them, I just find that I don't have much time for them. In the past I have really enjoyed shows like The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street. I like movies by Wes Anderson and the Cohen brother. Also, really cheesy horror movies are good, too.

I like a broad spectrum of music, but by no stretch of the imagination do I like everything. I like pop punk and death metal. Maybe some black metal as well. I like Houston hip hop a lot. I can do some old country or Tom Waits. Leonard Cohen makes me cry. William Elliot Whitmore has a beautiful voice. Amanda Palmer is wicked cool and fun to see live. Emilie Autumn and Regina Spekter are pretty awesome. I've been listening to a bunch of Saul Williams lately. I have a moderate collection of records with a bad ass record player. Wanna come over so I can show it off?

Oh food. Ok, so here is the deal. I am vegan but I am a kinda shitty vegan. I am definitely vegetarian, but I am shitty about reading labels about what has what in it, and I won't be a dick if I go out to dinner with folks and the place we end up doesn't have any good veggie options. Does that make sense?
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Avocados. Definitely avocados. How most people feel about bacon is how I feel about avocados. I could eat those like every fucking day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. I have opinions on absolutely fucking everything. That doesn't mean that I think I am right all the time, and I am way interested in hearing other opinions (sometimes I even change my mind when presented with compelling evidence). I think about everything from politics and philosophy to bicycle repair and communication styles. I love learning new things, I am an absolute sponge for new information.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

Ok, there are a couple of things that I need to put in here. First things first, I am polyamorous. That means I am never gonna be monogamous. It just ain't in the cards. I can promise you this: I will be honest with you about what is going down and who I am with. I am currently in a couple of relationship, but nothing that chews up too much of my time.

Now onto the bisexuality thing. Here is the deal. Sexuality is just a straight line spectrum. It's more of a big ass ball of wibbly wobbly mess. I think I fall a little more on the hetero side of things but not really completely. While being cisgender myself, my attraction seems to be directed towards people that present from very feminine through androgynous people of either, both, or no gender (i.e. genderqueer etc).

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have the ability to engage in a reasonably intelligent conversation. You are open minded and non-judgmental. You are honest. You have seen something here that interests you. You have never been hunting. You have more than one tattoo. You consider yourself a feminist, poly, socialist, anti-racist, pro-transgender rights, and/or otherwise a radical leftist. You are vegan.

You are a 'reader'.

You wanna have a Choose Your Own Adventure but in real life instead of in a book.
