My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've always been a nerd at heart, but I like to think I cover it up well. I'm not artsy, but most of my friends are. I'm a philly native, book-reader, schuylkill-trail-runner, IPA-drinker, unrepentant-ellipsis-abuser...

Sorry for the deceptive screen name...I once lived in DC :)

I am open-minded, sarcastic, and a bit mysterious.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I’ve got an exciting job and some fairly exciting hobbies. At any given time, I’m usually scheming on some excuse to leave the country, either for work or pleasure. Up next: Uganda (wooo!)

Other than that, my time is spent desperately imploring my plants to tell me what will make them happy! Who knew water, sun, and soil could be so complicated?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Sneaking quotes from Ghostbusters into my lectures and interviews.

Also, am a crème brulee maestro (making and eating).

Wow, this category is a whopper...

BOOKS: I’m not sure why, but I’ve always loved Russian lit. Pushkin and Dostoyevsky are my two favs in this category. Outside of that, it’s hard to narrow down.

Last three books read at time of profile writing:
In Cold Blood – Capote
Blood Meridian – Cormac McCarthy
‘Three Russian Women Poets’ – various artists

In general I like classics, foreign movies, indie films, and….I hesitate to add…I have a weakness for sci-fi flicks. Cheesy comedies and the hilariously low-budget are fun too.

A few that come to mind are Chinatown, Trainspotting, Bladerunner, Brazil, almost anything by Kubrick, the Sergio Leone Westerns, the great escape, cool hand luke, any Truffaut, Godard, Bergman….Dolemite, 80’s john cusack + brat pack movies, and on and on.

Recently, I’ve been revisiting Alison Goldfrapp and Air (although, I’m not sure how I feel about their most recent album). Still listening to Twin Shadow, Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

I love to sing along with The Divine Comedy or The Magnetic Fields. Any brit-pop is great too (Pulp, Blur, etc). Depending on my mood, bowie, velvet underground, the kinks or the pixies are always in the rotation. And of course, I’m a sucker for the canon of rock n’ roll: beatles, stones, Hendrix, zeppelin, cream, floyd, etc.
10 bonus points for you if you’ve ever heard of ‘momus,’ whether you like him or not

Only one show matters to me…Peep Show. Check it out.
OK, that’s a lie. Twin Peaks, also. That gum you like is going to come back in style.
