My self-summary
It's me! a David. Let's see, self-summary, self-summary. Well, I spend a lot of time trying to understand people and why they do what they do. Sometimes I stay up too late listening to the Talking Heads and playing Tetris or reading the internet. I like going for summertime walks with someone at night and getting so lost in conversation that you realize you've walked clear across town. I have a knack for cooking and baking delicious things. I need music like I need blood in my veins. I'm working for a delivery company currently, and I'm pondering my post-secondary future. I'm back in Nova Scotia for a bit, just looking to meet some new people.

I volunteer (when I can) for the Red Cross, local community independent radio, and a school for kids with differential styles of learning and special needs. I was a member of a couple of activist campus groups; I loved being involved on campus and hope to be again in the future. I like Asian and Middle Eastern food, playing the piano (badly), reading boring non-fiction, writing poetry and short stories, caring about the PRESSING SOCIAL ISSUES OF OUR TIMES RAWR, random adventures in small towns, climbing onto rooftops, making out, trying on hats, and acting totally inappropriate for my age.

I'm a huge dork. Every single attempt at being cool I have ever made has failed spectacularly.

Sometimes I write essays for fun. Especially when I'm angered or intrigued by something. I have a small collection of handmade drums and masks. I like to paint my fingernails in various colors. I have a minor obsession with Karen O, as well as all things Icelandic. I like to keep fit and have fun. Just like Bodybreak, with Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod. I wear my heart on my sleeve, I'm sort of shy, a bit of a loner, and kind beyond reason.
What I’m doing with my life
I spend my time doing the same thing I do every day, Pinky - trying to take over the world.

But seriously, I'm trying to figure out how I can do the most good in the world while... trying to do the most good in the world. Does that make sense? No? Meh.

In the short-term, I work as a driver for a delivery company and squirreling away my money.

In the medium-term, I'd like to take a course in culinary arts.

Thinking long-term, I'd like to pursue advanced degrees in Women's/Gender Studies and Human Sexuality.

Thinking long-long-term, I'd like to work with young people, and educate them on issues of consent, sex, and sexuality.
I’m really good at
Interior decorating. No, really. I spend waaaay too much time watching HGTV. Also, talking to people. I'm never the life of the party, but if you corner me and get me started on a topic that interests me (which is most topics), I can become very animated.

Over-dressing.

Making a mean cupcake.

Building houses... in The Sims.

Communicating openly, directly, and honestly. About anything. Sex, politics, activism, dreams, hopes, aspirations, academics.

Academic-y writing. When faced with the choice between a group presentation and an individual essay, I'll choose the essay without fail.

Oh, and being an enormous nerd. If it wasn't yet obvious.
The first things people usually notice about me
People notice me when they least expect it. Then bam!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ah jeez, too many to list if I try and cover all of my favorites so I'll pick a few for each category:

Book :

Fiction - Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy

Non-Fiction - Hegemony or Survival by Noam Chomsky, Death of the Liberal Class by Chris Hedges

Movie - Ridley Scott's original Alien (Ripley <3), The White Ribbon, Kubrick's The Shining. Also a big fan of weird dystopic fiction, so Brazil and Dark City should get a mention.

Show - Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Community

Band - The Cure, The Smiths, Morrissey, The Jesus and Mary Chain, El-P, Sufjan Stevens, Sleater-Kinney, toooooo many to list.

Food - Pad Thai, homemade tabouli or kimchee. I'm also a fan of overly-elaborate sammiches.
The six things I could never do without
Ummmmm only six, eh? I'll take it as a given that people can't live without friends, family, air, a gastrointestinal tract, etc. Here goes:

1. Intellectual exercise. Mind food. Topics to ponder and chew over.

2. A bed that is long enough that my feet don't stick out over the edge. I'm not even that tall, I just really hate the feeling of my feet dangling like that. SOMETHING COULD NIBBLE ON THEM.

3. Fruit.

4. Film Noir.

5. CBC Radio.

6. Hugs. (Whaaaat. I'm allowed to have ONE sentimental one, yeah?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Post-structuralism. Interesting combinations of tastes and textures. Songs I'd like to learn to play on the piano. How to own up to my privilege(s). Sexuality and gender and kink and romance and relationships and the complex connections between them all.
On a typical Friday night I am
Most likely having a glass of wine with my chums, although staying in and watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls happens, too (don't hate).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I harbor inappropriate feelings about Matt Damon.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 20–30
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
We have anything in common. Or if you want to make out like teenagers. Or you think I'd be fun to talk to. Or if you like the cut of my jib, sailor. You don't even have to have a reason. I tend to prefer spending time with people who approach things from a feminist/GSM-positive standpoint, but it's all good as long as you're kind and open-minded.

I'm honestly just looking for someone I can hang out and be weird with.
