My self-summary
I'm the kind of person who puts their mind to something and makes it happen- from my work, which I love, to looking out for my friends. I'm living in Cardiff at the moment but I'm originally from Dublin.

I'm fairly eclectic in my approach to life. I like keeping fit by cycling and running. But what I get really excited by is learning new things. Luckily I get to do this for a living as I work in a university. If I were on a wildlife show, David Attenborough would describe my natural state as looking stuff up on the internet.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a PhD in Genetics and currently work as a bioinformatician. It involves a lot programming, some statistics and a lot of drinking tea. I may not stay in this area forever. I've also got a background in software development. I tend to tinker with various projects in my spare time.
I’m really good at
Doing what needs doing. I tend to be quite straight forward and reliable and I don't get bored easily. Luckily this is quite a useful skill in science! Im also curious about the world in general and tend to find all sorts of information interesting.

I used to be really good at finding Wally. But that skill just doesn't seem to be as relevant these days...
The first things people usually notice about me
Hmmm I don't really know. I generally like to make people laugh. So maybe that?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:The Hunger Games, Painted Man, Name of the Wind, the Farseer trilogy, the tawny man trilogy, the magician. Stardust. Song of Ice and Fire. A wise man's fear. Lois McMaster Bujolds Vorkosigan books.

TV: Mad men, Homeland, 24, Lost (before it got shit), Supernatural, Firefly, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, The Walking dead, Avatar: the last airbender, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, The Almighty Johnsons, Warehouse 13, Stargate (both of them), Star Trek (all of them)... and lots more.

The six things I could never do without
Good Friends, Decent Kitchen, my Kindle, the Internet.
I can only think of those 4 things. Clearly I'm low maintenance.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work, Stories I'm writing (I like to write sometimes) Friends, Family, Society, Psychology, Morality, Science. Whenever I'm not thinking about any of that, I'm trying to think a really good idea/invention/app. Although it's harder than it sounds. I am totally open to ideas and suggestions on that one.
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading, Drinking with Friends, Watching TV, visiting other parts of the UK with Friends, Cinema, Restaurants, ... you know... fun stuff.
