I'm a big fan of science fiction/fantasy/nerdy stuff whether it be
books (currently reading Perdido Street Station by China Mieville),
movies (e.g. Serenity, District 9, Starship Troopers, The Avengers,
Shaun Of The Dead, At World's End, Scott Pilgrim) or TV (e.g.
Firefly, Dollhouse, Buffy, Fringe, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate
But I also love comedies (e.g. Chuck, The IT crowd, How I Met Your
Mother, Arrested Development, Misfits, Community, Gavin and Stacey)
and dramas (e.g. Castle, White Collar, Game Of Thrones, Downton
Abbey, The News Room, Girls).
Music is a big part of my life and I love going to see live music,
which is more difficult to do in Canberra than when I lived in
Melbourne, and going to music festivals, both camping ones and
one-day festivals. I'm actually hoping to expand my network of gig
buddies and would like to get out and see more local music. Please
let me know if you have an insider tip on an awesome band I might
like. I went to see Fun Machine last night, and had an absolute
ball. I'm a fan of a diverse range of music anything from
pop/electro pop by bands like The Grates, Ladyhawke, Passion Pit,
The Wombats, Freelance Whales, as well as some drum and bass, to
heavier music like Karnivool, Twelve Foot Ninja, and Dead Letter
Circus through to indie music from bands like Bon Iver, Fleet
Foxes, Mumford and Sons, The Head And The Heart, The Jezabels, and
Of Monsters and Men. I also love attending other forms of live
performance such as musical theatre, cabaret/burlesque, and dance.
I should probably buy an annual membership to Canberra
I really enjoy food, both cooking it and eating it! I like going
out to dinner (or brunch is fine too!) with friends, as well as
having people over for dinner although that's a little squishy in
my tiny one-bedroom flat. It's a guilty pleasure of mine to splash
out on a fine dining experience every once in awhile, but
unfortunately there doesn't seem to be as many high end eateries in
Canberra compared to Sydney or Melbourne. I hope to indulge at an
overseas Michelin starred-restaurant at least once in my lifetime.
