April 13, 2014:
Hooray! My hair is growing back in! I'm feeling well and mostly positive about life these days. Thankful to have the whole cancer thing behind me these days and praying that it's forever!
May 19, 2013:
In the interest of full disclosure, in the event that one of my matches actually might want to meet me in person, I posted a picture of my "bald" self, as I've been going through chemo as part of my breast cancer treatment. I figured that guys would want to know in advance that my looks have changed. Silly me! I guess I was wrong in thinking it was best to be honest about the recent change in my appearance. Someone must've objected to the photo, as that's the one that OKCupid chose to delete. The only reason I can see on their checklist for removal of my bald photo is #6. This was very hurtful to me, considering all that I've been through in recent months. Check out this message from OKCupid and YOU decide if you think this whole thing is discriminatory:

IMPORTANT: One of your Pictures has been removed.
One of your photos was flagged by OkCupid users for being inappropriate. After being reviewed and voted on by our moderators the consensus was to remove the photo.
The most common reasons for picture removal are:
1. The picture doesn't have YOU in it.
2. Copyrighted material
3. Extreme closeups
4. Non-photos or photos of pets, children, etc.
5. Celebrity/fake uploads
6. Disgusting stuff that scars us
7. Porn or nudity
As a rule of thumb, upload only photos of yourself
(your pets, children, and artwork belong elsewhere),
and make sure your face or body (not your tattoo or eyeball) is chosen
with the thumbnail selector.

March 5, 2013: Chemotherapy complete... Hooray! I'm looking forward to having my life somewhat back to "normal"...whatever that is! I have been a good sport about my hair loss, but I am looking forward to having it grow back. I am so blessed in so many ways. I am thankful for getting through this surgery and treatment with a great prognosis. Also, so thankful for everyone who helped me get through it, and God, my Heavenly Father, from whom I receive my strength (Philipians 4:13).

Update Dec. 3, 2012: It's been quite a while since I've updated my profile. I'm now battling a new type and totally new case of cancer. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August and I've got to endure chemotherapy treatments at least through February of 2013. I realized how fortunate I was, to have survived kidney cancer (over 11 years ago) and not had to endure chemo. Chemo has been the toughest part of this whole ordeal. The least of it is the hair loss. I'll have to post a bald-chick photo, just for fun. Although it's all only temporary, the nausea and discomfort is far worse than anything, along with the uncertainty of the success of treatments. Luckily, my prognosis is very good. I'm told chemo is mainly standard protocol for this type of cancer. My faith is getting me through each day, one day at a time.

Old profile: I'm a hard-working, divorced, single mom. No nonsense and no time for games or stupidity. Multi-dating is not necessarily a bad thing, if you know what you're looking for and trying to find "the one", just be honest about it. I'm a cancer survivor and know that life's too short to waste a single moment. I am a Christian with real (not lukewarm) Christian values, therefore, I do not believe in sex-before-marriage. I strive to live a Christ-centered life although I'm not perfect. I'm a work in progress being sculpted daily in the hands of the Master. I wouldn't be opposed to finding someone to share my life with, however, I don't mind meeting people and making friends here, either.

I'm an honest and dependable person and I like hanging out with people who are honest and dependable, as well. It seems a rarity these days to find people who keep their word. I like it when people do what they say they are going to do, call when they say they are going to call, and have enough consideration for others to make a quick call to let others know when they are not going to show up, or if they will be late.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work full-time at a job I've had for 25 years and am raising a child. I enjoy my spare time by spending it with other parents and their children. Family is very important to me. I like to fish, camp, ride my scooter, go to the movies, rollerskate, bowl (although I suck at it!) and enjoy discovering new activities to enjoy as well. Ever heard of 'geocaching'? It's one of my favorites!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
walking into a room and forgetting why I went in there
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile and my supermodel stature
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Stephen King's "The Stand" was probably one of the most memorable novels I've ever read. I liked all of the biblical parallels.
Recently finished reading Ludlum's "The Janson Directive". Ludlum and Grisham never disappoint! I haven't yet picked up a copy of Grisham's "The Racketeer", but hope to get one soon. I'm currently into the "Divergent" series, by Veronica Roth. I've read Stephenie Meyers' series and J.K. Rowling's series, based on recommendations from friends. I've also read a lot of Anne McCaffrey. A friend recently recommended "Water For Elephants", which I'd never heard of, so that's next on my list. I enjoy reading, sharing books with friends and discussing what we've read. [Update: I put down "The Janson Directive", so I could read "Water For Elephants" in time to see the movie after I read it. It was very good. Then I finished the Ludlum book!]
Movies & TV:
My favorite movie of all time is "The Wizard of Oz". It's so true that people so often are searching for something, only to find that it was right under their noses all along. Not everyone figures that out though!
The only TV show that I tend to watch regularly is "Jeopardy". LOL!
I think the love of music is a primal thing. I cannot imagine anyone who does not like some form of music. My mood often dictates what sort of music I'm listening to. I pretty much like it all. I tend to keep my radio tuned to Air-1.
I'd say as far as food goes, the short list would be the foods I don't like. Asparagus, lima beans and pickled beets. Everything else is great. I love ethnic foods of all kinds and enjoy trying new dishes and experimenting.
I like to combine movies AND food! For example, when we saw "Ratatouille", my kid and I just had to try it. Now it's one of our favorite dishes. When we saw the "Speed Racer" movie, I was inspired to create my own version of Mrs. Racer's pancakes. Yummy! The Shrek Cookbook is on our wishlist.
The six things I could never do without

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
This is not that complicated. Message someone who lives close to you. If she seems interested, invite her out for coffee. If you hit it off, exchange phone numbers and meet again. I don't know why people seem to think this is so hard.
