My self-summary
So, before I tell you more about myself, you should probably know something about my current situation first: I'm on the road. As in, I'm probably just passing through right now. I'm updating my "current location" as I go. Some places I may stay for weeks, or maybe even a month or longer. Other places, maybe just a day or two. I'm starting in California and gradually heading north, my only strict destination being Seattle by late June.

I'm vagabonding, which means I'm mostly living out of my car and tent camping along the way. I'm not a hobo, just playing the part of one. So ya, that's the deal.

Obviously this means I'm not exactly available to "date." I am, however, super interested in meeting up with people along the way. I'm always looking for connections, especially if the kind of trek I'm on sounds at all romantic to you. But I'm interested in all kinds of potential connections, not just intimate ones. That is, if you have the interest. I'm also happy to explain what is motivating my current journey if you're curious. Bonus points if you could see yourself doing this sort of thing too.

Okay, anyway, now that that is out of the way, here's some more about me:

My interests include the arts, especially writing, music, and filmmaking, but I'm also a science and nature buff. I'm introverted at heart, but outgoing when it comes to my passion for travel and adventure.

I have a Master's in Philosophy, and am intensely intellectual and politically active (liberal environmentalist), though my spirit is more creative than analytical. I have a very laid back demeanor, but get passionate when conversations turn intellectual. I'm very independent-minded.

I'm also extremely non-materialistic, which is convenient because I tend to move around a lot. In other words, I like to keep things light enough for travel. "Home" has shifted for me quite a bit over the years. I grew up in California (Bay Area), and have since lived in places as varied as Arizona, New York, Texas, Oregon, Hawaii, and Queensland (Australia). I return to the Bay Area, CA and the Pacific Northwest (Portland) most frequently, as family lives in the former and my heart belongs in the latter. Needless to say, though, I have the wanderlust. "Home" is more of an adjective than a noun.

If you're into the whole Myer-Briggs thing, I'm INXP.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a science, nature and environment writer for various online media sources. (I can work anywhere with an internet connection, which fuels my location-independence.) I've got a mean itch for filmmaking too, but that's just a hobby at best.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
As far as literature goes: Joyce, Proust, Woolf, Nabokov, Kafka, etc. You get the idea. The high brow classics; surrealism a plus. With non-fiction I'm extremely well read when it comes to science and philosophy (my previous academic career was in Philosophy). Right now, though, I'm totally engrossed in the 'Game of Thrones' (Song of Ice and Fire) series.

Warning: I'm quite the film snob... I'll spare you any film lists for the sake of this summary :)

With TV series, a few of my all-time favorites are Six Feet Under, Mad Men, The Wire, Twin Peaks, Breaking Bad, Louie, Game of Thrones (obviously)... I also catch the Daily Show and Real Time as often as I can.

Music-wise, I consider myself fairly well-rounded, but I am most passionate when it comes to folk, bluegrass, alt country and alt folk, outlaw country (real country), the blues, and indie rock. I'll spare you the long band list, but the Felice Brothers and Justin Townes Earle are currently in heavy rotation. I'm not a fan of rap, hip-hop, pop, and the vast majority of popular music that incorrectly labels itself as 'country'.

With food, I'm pescatarian (I eat seafood), but otherwise am strictly vegetarian.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Our fundamental embodiment. Which words to use. Expatriation. Who to spend time with in the post-apocalypse.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–38
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals, casual sex
You should message me if
You're a potential collaborator-- a writer, artist, traveler, activist, performer, or particularly: a filmmaker. I'm always open to a romantic connection, but mostly I want to be inspired. My life is in a lot of transition right now, and I want to be open to whatever presents itself to me.

You're not looking to settle down right now. I'm interested in people with stars in their eyes, not roots for toes. That doesn't mean that I'm not looking for a relationship. But I don't want the house, kids and routine thing. You should look elsewhere if the conventional lifestyle/relationship is what you're pining for.
