I have a theatrical personality inside a scientist's brain inside a rock climber's fluid-filled husk. I have a very large and very morbid sense of humor, I'm very blunt, and almost nothing offends me. I love the outdoors but probably spend too much time in front of my computer. I like extremes: going from a hot area to a cold area, going from a cold area to a hot area, songs with lots of loud parts and quiet parts, pushing myself hard (at work, climbing, partying) so that I can relax later (at work, the campsite, reading a book at home). I *love* a good movie or a good new album. Hopefully in a year or so I'll be able to take 6 - 12 months off and spend them climbing all over the US. I'm proud to be a scientist and a rational thinker. I did a lot of theatre in high school and college and I miss it terribly but like climbing more now. I read several books at a time, often taking months to finish, unless one really grabs my attention, in which case I can't put it down until it's done. I hate having to shave and dress up every day for work. Come to think of it I hate having to shave and dress up ever. I feel like I'm putting on a McDonald's uniform anytime I have to wear something I wouldn't normally wear, it's almost demeaning. I have a tattoo that means a lot to me and I have plans for a few more.

I've been in the area over a year, doing R&D on many many projects, hoping eventually to learn more about renewable/sustainable technologies. I really love my job but I'm not sure how much I like this area. It rains a bit too much. And now, sigh, the climbing season is mostly ending soon. I think this winter I'll take up skiing and snow hiking/camping. Who wants to go?
