My self-summary
After 40+ years, I've seen and experienced some of the best and worst of what it is to be a human being, and I'm happy to say that my sense of wonder and gratitude is ever increasing (on most days, at least). I can be cynical at times, but I am never cynical about the transformative power of love. Even when it hurts.

And with that said...

I'm continually in the pursuit of the soulful; whether in it's my relationships, my work, in art, or what I'm up to in the world. I love smart and loathe pretentious; reality, not theory; style, not trends; Goddesses, not princesses. I'm a man who lives to be wonderful for the people I adore and to be there when they need me most. I'll do anything for someone I love--without judgments.

I'm a dirty and sweet champion of chivalry who knows an amazing woman when I encounter her and knows how to treat her accordingly. I know when to act aligned with the verities of being a gentleman, and importantly, when not to. Being an honorable man is of the utmost importance to me.

I laugh often--deeply, irreverently, and sometimes profanely, and I'm a hell of a lot funnier in person, even when I'm being snarky. And sometimes, especially when I'm being snarky. More importantly, when it comes to women, I'm a man who knows when to indulge (often), when to compromise, and when to say no (rarely, but when necessary).

New York City, Rome, New Orleans, Paris, Big Sur, and Montauk are the places on earth I love most (so far) and where I feel most at home. "May I please have a Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks" is one of my favorite requests to make. I speak volumes with a glance. I've got a seriously old soul. I've encountered practically no one who drives a stick shift better than me. I'll readily, if not always happily, admit when I'm wrong. I'm a very good man to have along for the ride and I've been around the block a time or two.
What I’m doing with my life
Commericial, fashion and fine art photography. Being there for my beloved father as he hits his mid-80's. Planning my financial future. Being the man that my friends most often come to first when they're dealing with something major. Laughing as much as I can.
I’m really good at
...a whole bunch of stuff, ranging from the conventional to the masculine to the artistic to the lascivious. Inquire within.
The first things people usually notice about me
The kindness of my eyes, my smile, and my dimples. (Perceptive women will see the gleam underneath, and get that there's a whole other thing goin' on.)

Or, if I'm wearing my sunglasses, vintage leather jacket and am not smiling, that I look like a terrorist (or so I've been told on more than one occasion). Perhaps I shouldn't find that flattering, but I love it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Rather creating an exhaustive list, let's just say that I wouldn't want to live my life in a world without: The Rolling Stones, Coleman Hawkins, Philip Roth, Woody Allen, the New Yorker, photo books by Albert Watson, Helmut Newton and Richard Avedon, Bruce Springsteen, "Dusty In Memphis," Joan Didion's "Slouching Towards Bethlehem," Sam Cooke, Count Basie, Hunter S. Thompson, Candi Staton, Buddy Holly, Replacements, Raymond Carver, Motown and Stax, "Casablanca," Sex Pistols, Taschen erotica, "The Godfather," Al Green, Sinatra, Candi Staton, Billie Holiday, Steely Dan, Michael Lewis, Bob Dylan, "The Great Gatsby," Hemingway's short stories, "The Little Prince," "Dr. Strangelove" and last but certainly not least, "Airplane." Andrew Sullivan's blog is a mandatory everyday read.

Food: Anything Italian, the porterhouse at Peter Luger's, an eel and avocado handroll, the lobster roll at the Clam Bar in Montauk, a well made Caesar salad with fresh anchovies, steak fries, spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil with freshly grated Romano cheese sprinkled on top, crunchy French bread with great butter, the tacos at Snack Dragon, hummus, the squab at Lucien, the whitefish salad from Russ & Daughters and anything on a charcoal grill.

Extremely Probable Dealbreakers: You passionately loving the Dave Matthews Band, Broadway musicals and/or Ayn Rand. I find them each to be somewhere in between horrible and insufferable. No judgments, we're just probably not a match.
The six things I could never do without
A good, vintage leather jacket.
My cameras.
Scotch.
The sound of high heels clicking on a hard surface.
A warm and knowing smile from a woman.
Aretha Franklin.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Creating a signature style of photography.
The magic, mystery and wonder of women.
What is and what is not consistent with being the man I want to be.
Where exactly in Montauk I want my house to be.
The possibility of being knocked-on-my-ass, head-over-heels, crazy in love, and then becoming a very devoted husband and father.
That before I die I want to learn: 1. How to play the piano. 2. How to speak French. 3. How to speak Italian. 4. How to surf.
On a typical Friday night I am
Evading the douches who invade the E. Village, either inside my apartment or by going out with friends in Brooklyn.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've seen Springsteen 100+ times. I'm a dork.
