My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a recent transplant to Reno (3/2013) and the best way to make a new place feel like home is to make connections!

I don't think it is possible to summarize myself (or anyone else). How do you distill an entire person into one paragraph? Besides, anyone can make themselves sound awesome on paper, right?

That being said, I am a total nerd. Full on, Dragon*Con-going, movie-obsessing, internet-dwelling nerd. If I have a spare moment, I'll be reading a book. I'm addicted to crossword puzzles. I am a casual video gamer. I recently taught myself to crochet and have been foisting crocheted gifts on everyone I know.

I am a fan of football (or as Americans insist on calling it, soccer), particularly Manchester United. Thanks to a friend, I've recently gotten into hockey; specifically, the Washington Capitals. Otherwise, I don't care about sports.

I am shy until I get to know you. I love giving gifts. I cry at movies and books (a lot!), but almost never otherwise. I am smart and capable. I need outgoing, extroverted people around me to bring me out of my shell.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening, writing essays, fighting and racing style video games, air hockey, forming connections with people, being awesome.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm short! :D Also, I've often been told that my big, brown eyes are one of my best features.

Oh, dear. This could take a while!

Books: My favorite is probably Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I also love everything else written by those two authors. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams, the Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hunger Games trilogy, The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, Old Man's War by John Scalzi, Jennifer Government by Max Barry, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, 1984 by George Orwell. I could keep going, but it would be boring. I'll read just about anything, but have a preference for sci-fi, dystopias, young adult literature, and quirky non-fiction.

Movies: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, The Social Network, The Princess Bride, Boondock Saints, Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, 28 Days Later, Disney/Pixar movies, Sunshine, Velvet Goldmine, the Hangover. Again, I could keep going. I watch a LOT of movies!

Shows: Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse (I really like Joss Whedon), Glee, Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis, Hawaii Five-0, House, NCIS, Psych, White Collar, Royal Pains, Modern Family, Community, 30 Rock, Leverage, Lost, Rescue Me, Being Human (the original UK version), Merlin, Sherlock (the 2010 BBC series), Misfits

Music: I will listen to anything and everything. I will always love the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC, but my iPod also contains classical music, classic rock, 80's hair metal, Broadway musicals, 90's boybands, movie soundtracks, etc.
