I believe in honesty, there is no kindness in hiding something important from someone if it's something they should know. If you ask me a question I will give you an honest answer whether you want one or not (if not why did you ask?). I also believe in honesty from whomever I'm with or spending time with.

I'm not one of those women who dresses up no matter what it is she's doing (like wearing heels to go walking around NYC or to the grocery store). I think I look good the way I am in my jeans and shirt with no makeup! I respect being real and expect that someone respects that in me. Don't worry, I do wear makeup and dress up when needed.

On to the more usual stuff.

I am a curious person, I like to find out about things. This means I like to have new experiences and do things. This could be the gamut from trying something new (like rock climbing which I've done indoors only so far), reading, researching, taking a class, seeing a play or movie, going to a museum, learning a new hobby, traveling and visiting new places. Most recently I read the back story of the character I dressed up for on Holloween, to be thorough.

While I can also be perfectly happy sitting at home reading, hanging with friends, watching a movie or playing video games I will always be open to doing something else and getting out of the house.

I like cooking for fun and exploration. I recently purchased a subscription to Cooks Illustrated. However, this does not make me a particularly domestic girl!

I like to see the outdoors occasionally and go walking or, hiking to do so. I like to see movies, play board games (Euro games) and video games. I only have a dinky point and shoot, but I still like to take photographs. Perhaps some day I'll get a body and a lot of lenses but I don't think I'd put in enough time to justify the expense right now.

I like dancing, my main problem with places I can dance is that the music is so loud it gives you hearing loss, or and you can't talk to / hear anyone.

I am casual nerd and like the usual nerdy things, although I'm terrible at keeping up with pop culture.

I am trying for continual self improvement sprinkled with fun. It isn't that I think that there is anything wrong with me, but there is always something new I can learn to do better or get a new enriching experience. I could also express this as trying to listen to what life is trying to tell me. If possible I like to blend the two such as traveling to new places.

My most recent self improvement foray has been to improve my personal finance knowledge and habits which has involved reading a lot of blogs so far. Unfortunately, when you don't know something you don't know what you don't know! I am hoping to get to the point where I can tell what is silly and what is valuable knowledge. I also keep up on current food news, steal my friends Economist and read it and listen to NPR for current events.

Other than that, life is usual. I go to work, do stuff outside of work and try to keep myself entertained.

Analyzing stuff. I like to poke at things and find out what makes them tick.

Walking, eating, sleeping, I'm really good at those too. I find this question silly, like promoting yourself at an interview which is the point I suppose...

I look better in real life than my photos is the only thing I've been told. I blame poorly taken pictures.

Books: I tend to read a lot of Sci Fi, Heinlein, Mercedes Lackey, C. S Friedman, Orson Scott Card for some authors. Harry Potter, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, the Dragonbone Chair for some books. I also try to squeeze in a few serious books, I have Atlas Shrugged on my list as the next book.

Movies: I tend to watch comedies, action, drama or more Sci Fi. Lord of the Rings and the good Star Wars movies, Bourne, Stranger Than Fiction, Blues Brothers, Shaun of the Dead, Children of Men. A lot of the 80's movies like Neverending Story, Back to the Future, Princess Bride, etc.
I really don't like to watch the horrible stereotypical girlie movies like confessions of a shopaholic or all those cheerleader movies...

TV: I find 30 Rock and Flight of the Conchords hilarious. The Simpsons is always a classic, British humor such as the Monty Python TV shows, Red Dwarf, etc.. Previous favorites are Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, A Team, Fraggle Rock, Night Court, Highlander, Magnum PI and Knight Rider.

Music: I like a variety of things and am willing to listen to new things. I'll admit that I haven't found a lot of Jazz or Country that I have enjoyed.

Food: Anything not too gross or spicy. I did have an amazing home made pizza with fig jam, ham and a sprinkle of cheese on top.
Restaurants: Some examples are Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Burgers, Italian, etc. are all OK. I'll do Indian too I just need to be careful of the spice.

If given a choice between a good restaurant I've already eaten at and one that sounds good and I have not tried, I'll pick the new one.
