My self-summary
I come from a long line on aspiring astronauts who found out that physics is about as hard as it gets. So, if I can't actually get to space myself, I might as well read about it, write about it, spend my time dreaming about it, no?
What I’m doing with my life
Making pizza by day and writing the Great American Comic Book by night.

When I was lad, I wanted to live in the woods and grow potatoes and hunt deer. When I was grown, I wanted to direct films and become Stanley Kubrick without the receding hairline. And now I want to write funny books and inspire kids to become astronauts and make music until I die.
I’m really good at
researching, arguing about the legacy of Anglo-Saxon England, making grilled-cheese sandwiches, belting out glam-rock power ballads at work.
The first things people usually notice about me
When I'm clean-shaven, I assume it's the mole on my chin. When my beard is in full force, I assume it's the beard.... People probably aren't looking at my jaw as much as I think, though.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Hard science fiction is what I love more than anything- Heinlein and Asimov are the greats. Dune and its sequels by Herbert.

Tolkien rearranged my brain at an early age- I love a rich fantasy world that I can lose myself in.

Right behind the American sci-fi come the British comics: Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and (to a lesser extent) Grant Morrison.

I love plenty of movies, but none moreso than Princess Mononoke.

Erm, television? Breaking Bad and Mad Men for the brain and the gut, Parks and Recreation and Adventure Time for the lulz. I've been watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart so long he feels like family; I love him even when I disagree with him. Also, Avatar: The Last Airbender, the show I love so much even M. Night Shyamalan couldn't ruin for me.

Music. Oh man. I've gotten to point where I'm sick of trying to figure out what to call my taste. There isn't a word for it. Clarity by Jimmy Eat World is probably my most-listened to album, if that helps. I've seen Rush live 4 times over the last 11 years, thanks to my dad.
The six things I could never do without
My typewriter
My guitars
My headphones (and something to play through them)
My independence
My copy of Dune
My bow
On a typical Friday night I am
Either writing or reading or playing guitar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once tried to learn how to speak Elvish. Make of that what you will.
