My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a cynical but soft-hearted Carolina transplant who loves a good glass of wine - although I'll take mediocre too, lazy Sundays, and my dog. I love crisp fall days, live music, and tequila. Extra points if they happen all at the same time.

I've got kind of a dark sense of humor and am terrible at telling jokes because I somehow always mess up the lead in or the punch line. But I tell them anyway.

Being in D.C. for going on 7 years has taught me to try not to take myself too seriously - there are enough people here to do that for you. I also refuse to play the "who's busier?" game that seems to be a contact sport around here. I like a balanced life (work, social, and down time) and am not afraid of a completely unscheduled weekend.

I'd like to meet someone who'll take me for grand adventures but can appreciate the simple things in life, like curling up during a thunderstorm with a movie, or Saturday trips to the Home Depot. Someone who is intellectually curious, emotionally mature, and who will respect me as an individual while supporting and caring about me.

I also have a 8 year old golden retriever and she is, obviously, the best. She's mischievous and sweet so loving dogs is pretty much mandatory.

my smile

My lack of a Southern accent. It's there if you know to look for it.

Fried Okra, blackberry cobbler and melted vanilla ice cream, coffee

Dark, psychological thrillers (like Gone, Baby, Gone)

Mystic River, Crime Noir (Dashiell Hammett, etc.), more recently: The Glass Castle, Cloud Atlas, & The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet (both by David Mitchell), Cutting for Stone, Americanah

TV: Colbert, Dexter, OITNB/HOC/etc., The Americans, currently bingeing (does that have an e in it?) on Californication

Music... hmm. I like most any genre (growing up in a musical family will do that), and will pretty much go hear anything live. Lately I've decided I like anything with funk undertones, a strong base line, and a horn section.
