My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Let it be known that if you don't enjoy watching Cosmos (either version) we probably don't have the same view of the universe.

My name is Josh. I'm originally from Ohio but moved out here a couple of years ago for work. I'm a motion graphics designer for television shows and production companies, which means I basically make logos and nameplates and things of that nature for some of the shows you may have seen. As much as I like my job, the thing I enjoy more than designing is simply this: I love being a nerd.

I deeply love all things nerdy. I love video games; I love comics; I love movies and TV shows; I love sci-fi and fantasy. I love practically every single genre of music, from broadway to bluegrass, rock to rap, ska to 50s and 60s swing. I am a weekly Dungeon Master for a D&D group that plays at a comic book store. I watch stand up comedy and play board games and occasionally burn through entire series on Netflix (usually Buffy). I've gone to RPG conventions and Comic-Cons in 2 cities and I went to PAX Prime in August 2013. I love dinosaurs and space and the human body and quantum physics and brain teasers and getting lost in How It's Made because I never realized how much went into making and packaging toothpicks. If you decide to message me and get to know me, you'll get a nerdy, creative, storyteller who believes in loyalty and honesty, and has the heart of a dragon (both in and out of game)

Also if you want to hear me talk about D&D a bunch I recently appeared on a podcast for some friends:
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
-Working at a company doing graphics for TV shows and production companies. Unfortunately my hours during the week aren't awesome so it makes me love my weekends that much more.
-Occasionally doing freelance work or making things for my reel
-Running a D&D campaign for close friends
-Going to shows, movies, conventions, and whatever else I feel like doing
-Planning my next tattoo
-Working out about 5 times a week to get myself in shape
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-mental math
-making people laugh
-aesthetics (which helps since I'm a designer)
-remembering song lyrics
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes I'm full of energy and talking people's ears off. Other times I'm content to sit back and listen to others' stories. Either way I most likely have a smile on my face and I'm always interested in conversation.
I'm also always up to try or learn about new things so I tend to ask a lot of questions about things that interest me. If it sounds like something I'd potentially enjoy, why wouldn't I just go for it? At the very least it could be a great story. On the learning side, I love learning about the oddities and differences between cultures and people, but also things like the human body, sex, the universe, and whatever else interests me.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-The internet (allows me to keep in touch with friends across the country)
-My computer
-Good music
-Imagination and great stories
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Upcoming D&D sessions, new design ideas, new stories, new characters, music, tornadoes, space, and a thousand other things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably getting off work late and going home to unwind with some dinner and netflix, playing some games with friends, playing video games online with some friends from back home, or out spending time with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I carry a D20 with me at all times. It helps when I don't care where I want to go for lunch or what order in which to do chores and things.
I also tend to crank the music and rock out to music in my car unashamedly.

It sounds super cliche but really I would love to find someone I feel like is my "best friend". Every super-successful relationship I see, the two people are essentially best friends who love the same things and love going on adventures together and doing each others' favorite activities and just enjoying each others' company, who also have sex and in some cases live together. I'm hoping to eventually find someone who I feel that strongly about.

Also full disclosure: based on my experience using this site, I might be terrible at the "initial message". If my message seems kinda meh but my profile seems intriguing, I hope you give me a shot. I promise I love conversation, I'm just apparently not as good as I thought at getting the ball rolling. Or you could just send the first message if you're interested; it's not as scary as it sounds.
