My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Born and raised in downtown Chicago, moved to LA three years ago by way of NC, DC, and briefly NYC. I would describe myself as outgoing and laid back, but also opinionated and professionally driven. (...Like motivated, not chauffeured.) I appreciate sarcasm, banter, and puns. Even bad ones. (See above.) I'm an active person and love the outdoors. With a few big exceptions, I'd rather play sports than watch them, but I do both regularly. I am determined to use my snowboard more than once this year. These days I've been trying to make time for beach volleyball and biking, but I'm also a fan of the wine and movie night in or just hitting a local bar.

As for other interests, I like to cook, but I live by myself so it's possible I'm not very good at it. I definitely can't bake, but I excel at eating baked things. I also enjoy photography, especially landscapes and wildlife. And speaking of animals, I grew up with golden retrievers and am a [big] dog person. But I can tolerate cats—if they act like dogs.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Recently finished law school, did some post-bar travel through Africa and Europe, and am excited to be getting on with my career in environmental law for the good guys (as opposed to working for a big firm). For any How I Met Your Mother fans out there, I have young Marshall Ericksen's dream job.

...And to clarify for any other lawyers reading this, I'm not saying firms are evil, but I think we can all agree that environmental law on behalf of Big Law clients is not exactly "fighting the good fight."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Scattergories, pub trivia (although I haven't found a great spot out here yet—have you?), most activities involving water, making new friends (which is entirely different from meeting people), and organizing an embarrassing amount of my life in color-coded google spreadsheets.
The first things people usually notice about me

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Ender's Game, Gates of Fire, Devil in the White City, anything by Tom Clancy or Malcolm Gladwell and his ridiculous hair. I also recently became a podcast fanatic late but virtually overnight. That's like reading, right?

TV: West Wing is my all-time favorite show. I could leave this at "Must love Sorkin," but I'll go on. I watch The Daily Show/Colbert Report religiously. (Now that Colbert is going to late night, do we have to start watching late night? Is this how we unwittingly become grownups?) Other favorites: GoT, 30Rock, Community, Friends, The League, Modern Family, Firefly... Apparently I watch a lot of TV. But I also just cancelled my cable, largely to spite Time Warner, so we'll see how that goes. Oh, and I love Jeopardy, but hate Alex Trebek. He's a pompous prick and you know it. Stop defending him.

Movies: Instead of another long but still incomplete list, I'll give you a rule: If it's going to make me sad, it better be mind-blowing.

Music: Again, broad interests. As long as nobody is screaming on the track, I can probably appreciate whatever you put on.

Food: Egg rolls. Yes, I still have a favorite food past the age of 12. I'm not picky, just no mushrooms.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My next meal. Sometimes as early as during a current meal.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I am normally a very contented big spoon. That said, every now and then it's still nice to be little spoon for a bit. Yet that phrase sounds emasculating for a guy, so I'd prefer if you called it "jetpacking" for me. You're smaller than I am, so it's just more accurate. And badass.

On a related note, in case you have trouble reading between the lines of a jetpack allusion, I have a nerdy side. I've done a decent job suppressing it since middle school, and it's not at all the first thing you'd notice about me in person, but it's definitely there. If you've seen Star Wars or LOTR even once, we're off to a good start. If not, no worries. There's a lot more to me than that. ...But you and I have some remedial movie-watching to do at some point.

You're a vivacious girl with an easy smile and will keep me on my toes. I'm looking for someone who is passionate about what she does and will challenge me (a bit) every day.
