My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm the kind of guy who astounds people with a vault of random knowledge. I like to cultivate a wide range of (often geeky) hobbies, but still pursue them vigorously. I'm an engineer and a scientist at heart but also have an eye for the arts. I'm happiest when I'm learning new things.

Despite my diverse interests, I'm known for usually being quiet and reserved. I prefer small gatherings of close friends over loud, packed nightclubs.

I've been told I have a dry, clever sense of humor, but I appreciate goofy absurdities too. I've also been told I'm a good listener. I don't have any pets right now, but grew up with all kinds of animals (cats, dogs, fish, lizards, hermit crabs).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write training simulation software for the government. It's a little bit like making video games for Uncle Sam. I love it.

I've also been focusing on getting in shape. I started jogging and actually kind of enjoy it. There's a lot of great trails near my house.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Besides working with my computers, I'm an excellent cook.

I love mastering new recipes to share with people, from down-home country comfort food to exotic South-East Asian delicacies.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm quiet and thoughtful. Also my really dark eyebrows.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I read a lot of science fiction, but I like to mix in plenty of other genres. Top current authors: Larry Niven, Stephen King, Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Butcher, John Scalzi, Kevin J. Anderson, and John Varley.

Current favorite TV shows: Mythbusters, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Dexter, HIMYM, BBT, and Lilyhammer.
Past favorites: Farscape, Firefly, Star Trek (all of them), Stargate (all of them), Battlestar Galactica, House, Chuck, Lost (except the ending), and Seinfeld.

My music tastes tend to shift, but lately I trend towards power metal. In the past I've chilled out to techno/trance, jazz, and even classical music.

I'm an adventurous eater and love trying new things, especially exotic Asian food. Chinese pot-sticker dumplings are my absolute favorite things to eat/make. However, I still love a good plate of pasta or some down-home country cookin'.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I've decided that this is a silly section, so here's "Six things I like but probably wouldn't perish for lack of (in no particular order):"

1) Scandinavian heavy metal
2) Thunderstorms
3) Onions
4) My pocket knife
5) Wall tapestries
6) Polypropylene
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My own future. I tend to get lost in my head planning out parts of my own life. However, I find things rarely work out the way I imagine, and I'm at my best when I abandon preconceptions and just go with the flow.

Also sometimes I like to think of what I would do in case of a zombie attack.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday isn't really my preferred night, but Saturday...

Going to hang out with friends, possibly eat out, BBQ, visit a bar, or catch a movie. Sometimes we even have "game night" and break out random board games or party games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Despite the horrible science, I actually really like the movie "Armageddon".
