Born in Kiev, Ukraine, I moved to the States at the age of 8. I still speak, read, write in Russian fluently. I lost my foreign accent and am sounding more and more like a Minnesotan with each passing day. I sometimes miss having a thick Russian accent and start talking in it to see how long I can last. Usually I mess up by using the "th" sound, which makes the whole accent sound fake.

I enjoy long humorous and deep discussions on various topics. I value a quick wit and dry sarcasm. I will often tell people the opposite of what I mean. Luckily, my pretentious tone gives me away, and actions speak louder than words, allowing my caring and loyalty to shine through.

My life is drenched in music. My parents used to occupy me when I was really little by putting headphones on me and putting on any sort of artist. This would cause me to freeze until the recording was over.

I also love cooking, which I am best at when there is someone coming over.

I'm currently working as a software engineer. In my spare time I like to do things that are as far removed from computers as possible, like reading, cooking, hanging out with friends, listening to music, playing guitar in my band. I get a lot of IT questions from friends and family, however, so there is no escape. I can't help being reasonably good at this sort of thing, and I do enjoy helping people.

I'm good at saying outlandish things that make you wonder where they came from. Also, I am able to make any situation fun and exciting. A simple trip to target for tissue paper can turn into a laugh fest. I am loyal and caring. I also value my honor and integrity to the point that I will take a financial loss just to keep my honor where it should be. I'm like Niske from firefly, but without the torturing people, illegal activity, goons, or space station.

The outlandish tangents I will go on in conversation, honesty and open mindedness.

favorite genres of books and movies are sci-fi and fantasy. Authors I adore are Stanislaw Lem, brothers Strugatsky, Henry Lion Oldie, Isaak Asimov. I like action and horror films also. I tend to like movies that are very quotable. The best tv series ever made in the States, IMHO, was Firefly. the food I enjoy eating and cooking most is Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and Russian. My music taste is rather eclectic - if a song has an interesting mood being set, and/or interesting interplay between instruments, I tend to like it, regardless of genre.
