Hi. My name is Derek. I grew up on Long Island and I currently live and work in New York City. I like to think I'm a pretty open minded person. It seems that the older I get, the funnier I get, which seems to be somewhat backwards, but I'll take it. I try not to judge people and I aim to see at least some good in everyone/everything.

I'm currently working three jobs. During the day, I'm an office assistant at a professional NYC theatre organization called the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation. At night, I'm a sales associate for a Broadway merchandising company. If you bought a poster/CD/overpriced t-shirt/stuffed flying monkey at Wicked, chances are, you bought it from me. I'm also a high school theatre director sporadically throughout the school year. I know that might sound a little chaotic, but I strangely have a lot of free time on my hands. I studied theatre direction, management, production, and sociology (the random one out of the bunch) in college. I'm not entirely sure where I want to settle down yet but New York City is looking like home for at least a few more years. Overall, life is good.

I love reading plays, autobiographies and anything pertaining to travel. By "travel" I mean somewhere far away. Not Jersey.

I'm an old man at heart so I love all the classic movies. I can sit and watch TCM for days. I know it's a gay stereotype, but I really do love the old movie musicals. On the flip side, I also enjoy movies like Jaws, King Kong, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Twister. I can't explain it. I pretty much enjoy any movie that can make me laugh, cry, hum, or simply blows my mind.

I love Family Guy, Judge Judy (the woman's nuts but also something of a genius), Pushing Daisies, Law and Order, Modern Family, The Golden Girls and anything on Discovery/National Geographic. You can always catch me in front of my TV set during Shark Week. Also, a few years ago, I lived for Planet Earth.

I'm a vegetarian but I would never tell someone else not to eat meat or judge them for doing so. That's just obnoxious.
