My self-summary
Someone once said, "Breed crows, and you'll have lots of crows."

I guess that's certainly true. Below the surface level, I have no idea what that means. I also have no idea what I'm supposed to write down in this little box. I'm a native San Diegan (well, Escondidian originally... or Providencian if you want to get technical), and while I don't plan on propagating bird species anytime soon, I hope to meet some interesting folks.
What I’m doing with my life
At the moment, I suppose I'm just trying to work on my craft. I'm a decent piano player. Jazz is mostly what I do, although I play other sorts of music as well. I make a painfully modest living at it, and enjoy my work immensely. I compose a bit as well, and would like to start leading my own groups again. For the time being, though, I'm a subsistence gig-er, freelancing on various jobs, mostly for singers. It's a living, and a pretty fun one at that.
I’m really good at
I hope I'm relatively good at making music. If nothing else, I'm trying to get better on the daily. Besides music, I suppose I'm a passable conversationalist and a so-so writer. I'm also not too terribly bad at near excessive modesty.
The first things people usually notice about me
I would love to say my sense of humor or something about me being charming (I'm not sure how true either of things are, really), but it's most likely my blonde-ness. I am incredulously blonde. I'm also so pale you can actually watch me get a sunburn.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm reigning it in a bit, but...

Books: The Once and Future King, Naked, and East of Eden
Movies: The Manchurian Candidate (1962), The Host, and Blazing Saddles
Shows: QI, MST3K, and (somewhat recently) The X-Files
Music: Most things jazz, and most other things as well. I always like discovering and digging on new music. That said, I think dubstep is awful. I don't understand why it's popular.
Food: Sushi and beer, the latter of which totally counts
The six things I could never do without
1. My family and friends
2. Music
3. My five senses
4. New things to nerd-out on
5. The ability to travel and have new experiences
6. A home I can always come back to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Besides music? I suppose where my life is going, how to be a better human, and (usually when I'm driving) the way the world's put together, and why it's that way.
On a typical Friday night I am
... usually playing somewhere, and usually quite late, although there are always exceptions to both. I miss out a lot of Friday night happenings, but sometimes the Friday-night gigs are the best.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My moustache has it's own Facebook page. I should take this time to point out that not only do I no longer HAVE a moustache, I had nothing to do with the creation of said Facebook page. It literally has taken a life of it's own. According to it's last post, it's, "Just been backpacking in the Galapagos for the last six months and silently meditating every day." ADHD version: I have strange and wonderful friends.
