My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A man, a cat, and a computer.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm fixing broken computers for interesting people, driving all over Durham and the RTP, and searching for a bar with overstuffed leather chairs and a brutal Old Fashion. I'm looking for a particular area of IT to get really good at, then do that for thing for a decade.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing letters and keepings up correspondence; putting up with asshole cats; talking at length with great passion about things I don't understand; bicycling; packing just the right amount of underwear; patiently waiting on foolish delays; sharing the armrest on an airplane; learning simple phrases in Spanish; finishing books; playing Cribbage and Euchre; making puns; hunting for the best burrito.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A lot of my shirts have cats or sloths on them. Otherwise, how adorable I am, I suppose.

I really like stories about incompetent deities and magical realism. American Gods, Phantom Tollbooth, Zorba the Greek, St. Francis, Baron in the Trees, Invisible Cities, Anansi Boys, Vampires in the Lemon Grove, 100 Years of Solitude, The Magicians trilogy, Harry Potter, Neverwhere, Master and Margarita, Secret Life of Walter Middy, The Alchemist, The Dark Tower series, the Talisman, My Name is Red, Good Omens.

In times gone by, I studied Classics, and will occasionally return to the Clouds, the Meditations, Letters from a Stoic, Herodotus' Histories, and Xenophon's Anabasis. Fun fact: I spent a week on Crete with a towel, the Anabasis, and a plastic container of olives. Unfun fact: This was insufficient packing.

I really like literary criticism and theory as a hobby, most likely because I don't understand any of it. I've read Foucault, Derrida, and Bakhtin, and learned only that there is a way to write densely without being understood at all.

I really like action movies, and am confident that a bottle of wine can make any movie really great for 90 minutes (e.g. Shutter Island). Rambo, Brick, Wayne's World, Die Hard (even the last two), Godfather, Terminators 1 and 2, Kung Fu Hustle, Ong Bak, Big Trouble in Little China, all the Marvel movies, Con Air, The Rock.

Supernatural, Archer, Parks and Rec, 30Rock, all that.

I'm the type to listen to the same albums over and over a million times, then never again. Aesop Rock, Decemberists, Kanye West, Matmos, the Books, JayZ, Rolling Stones, the Beta Band, Skrillex, Cannibal Corpse, Andrew Bird, the Unicorns, Otep, Lil Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins, growly heavy metal, thumpy dubstep, everything else.

Foods? Mexican, Greek, Indian, Thai, generally in that order.

I really like bitter over sweet, hoppy over lager, and lukewarm coffee.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Crockpot, coffeemaker, laptop
Insurance, passport, time to daydream.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've never been camping.
