My self-summary
Just your average 27 year old photo nerd trying to go through life and make a livin' taking pictures.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a graduate of University of the Arts, with a Bachelor's in Photography. Currently, I'm working at a camera store north of Philadelphia, and doing some freelance editing in my spare time. If you want to check out my personal photography, here's the link to my online portfolio! (jfoxphoto.squarespace.com)

I just got a new position at my job (yay) but am having some major car issues (boo) and trying to seriously re-evaluate my life, because I'm not happy with who I am right now. Changing that is a big goal over the next few months.
I’m really good at
Photography, making stir-fry, making wonderful (and by wonderful I mean terrible) puns, singing along with songs in the car, getting my butt kicked at Smash Bros and Mario Kart, and being able to recall offbeat historical facts and trivia.
The first things people usually notice about me
Usually the fact that I probably have a camera in my hands, or the fact that if I am taking photos I'm probably lying down on the ground in weird positions to get the best shot.

I suppose the fact that I tend to smile a lot in conversations. Don't let my photos fool you, if I'm talking to you 9 time out of 10 I'll be smiling.

I'm actually not sure what folks notice about me, other than I tend to be pretty approachable in real life.

Canon over Nikon, son.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There are a LOT of things to list here, but in general my interests skew towards geeky pop-culture interests (comics/manga, sci-fi stuff, video games, etc.), historical fiction and non-fiction, and nature specials like Planet Earth.

Books: The Martian, Kingkiller Chronicles, Aubrey-Maturin books (Master & Commander series), Jurassic Park, The Historian, Dresden Files, Terry Pratchet/Discworld, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Some comics and manga.

Movies: Star Wars, Mad Max: Fury Road, Pacific Rim, Wreck-It Ralph, Kingsman, The Book of Life, Ghostbusters, Little Nemo in Slumberland, MCU, Moon, Tron/Legacy, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Snowpiercer.

TV Shows: Anything narrated by David Attenborough. The man is a gem. National Geographic documentaries. Over The Garden Wall. Steven Universe. A decent amount of anime. Used to be big into Doctor Who but I've kind of lost interest in the show after season 6/partway through season 7. Not a huge TV watcher, to be honest.

Video Games: Smash Bros, Ace Attorney, The Last of Us, Mirror's Edge, Borderlands, Fallout, Dark Souls, Pokemon. The Kingdom Hearts series has a special place in my heart. Just got a Wii U and Splatoon is amazing.

Music: So many bands. Radiohead, The Fratellis, Gorillaz, Kate Bush, The Chemical Brothers, Tycho, Modest Mouse, Goo Goo Dolls, The Aquabats!, Queen, David Bowie, The Protomen, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Seals & Croft, Goldfish, Justice, Mystery Skulls, Studio Killers, and FEMM. I really enjoy synthwave/chillwave styles of music but have absolutely no idea of any band names, so any recommendations are welcome.

Food: Mozzarella sticks are one of my favorite foods ever. Stir-fry and curry are up there too, as well as any meaty/seafood dishes. Fried dumplings are yum. Cheese is delicious, and it's my opinion that pasta is, in fact, a food group. Apple cider is super delicious, esp when heated with a cinnamon stick and with a bit of Amaretto thrown in.
The six things I could never do without
The internet.
Photoshop and Lightroom.
Comfy sweatshirts.
Any and all of my current cameras.
Apple cider in fall.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm going to do next in terms of photo projects - do I try and arrange a fashion/cosplay shoot, or go take more landscape pictures, or do I try something weird or conservative? Do I shoot on film or digital?

Where to focus on finding a decent photo job and what part of the country I want to try and move to. See also: fretting about finding apartments and the future in general.
On a typical Friday night I am
Normally, being a homebody and chilling on Tumblr. Occasionally I'll be down in Ocean City NJ or Philadelphia with friends. Fridays are akin to Sunday for me because of my schedule, so I tend to take the day and relax. (So exciting.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Despite the fact that I enjoy swimming and I'm a certified scuba diver, any water deeper than 40-50 feet terrifies me. I wind up getting all sorts of phobias that I don't have on land when I'm that deep (I can't control my buoyancy, I get claustrophobic, I hyperventilate, etc.). It's frustrating, because I love the ocean and learning about it, but it also seriously scares the piss out of me.

I'm loathe to admit it but I'm kind of a giant hipster when it comes to cameras. I just really really love anything to do with film. (I have about 8 different cameras besides my main digital and they're all film someone please stop me.)

As of right now, I have never eaten any type of ramen.

I have never watched Fight Club and honestly don't really care if I do or not.
You should message me if
You appreciate bad puns. Or good puns. Or any kind of pun.

You're an intersectional feminist.

You love photography of any kind, and want to chat about your current photo projects, different cameras, or just anything dealing with photography in general.

You like games, comic books, or sci-fi movies. Going off of that, if you'd like to play Smash or Animal Crossing on 3DS, or Splatoon on the Wii U.

You'd like to go on a walk in the city or in a park and snap some photos.

The idea of a night in watching a movie under some blankets on the couch is appealing to you. (This might not count for horror movies - I'm a huge wimp. Only for when you enjoy laughing at me being ridiculous.)

Not a huge fan of drugs.

I'm extremely bad at sending first messages; I get nervous with cold approaches even on the web and I tend to have a hard time approaching someone with a purely romantic mindset. Chances are if you see me pop up in your visitors multiple times, I think you're neat but I'm too nervous to say hello!
