My self-summary
Let's see here. What's the best way to describe myself?

Well, I'm a 25 year old photographer from the Lehigh Valley/Philadelphia area. I'm a geek who loves discussing science fiction, anything dealing with history, video games, and photography stuff. I have a terrible love of puns and equally bad jokes. My Myers-Briggs type is ISFJ ("The Protector") which means that supposedly I share the same type as John Watson and Jim Gordon.

I've just graduated from college, and I'm hoping to slowly dip my toes back into the dating waters again. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, but casual would probably be best right now - mostly just someone to hang out with, cuddle, and go on actual dates to places with.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a recent photogaphy graduate looking to get into the worlds of advertising and landscape photography, with cosplay/fashion on the side. I studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and have a BFA in Photography. I just got a job working as a full-time Sales Associate at a camera store and recently completed a semester as a TA on Tuesdays at UArts, assisting one of my former professors.

For those who are interested in seeing things that I've shot, you can check out my professional website at http://jfox.squarespace.com.

I've also got a personal blog at http://disco-vader.tumblr.com. What I post is fairly eclectic, so don't go in expecting something dedicated to a single theme. (i.e. expect a lot of really stupid things being reblogged. Basically if I like it or think it's funny it gets reblogged.)
I’m really good at
Photography, telling puns and lame jokes without a trace of shame, remembering historical facts and trivia, and laughing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Usually the fact that I'm at my most noticeable when I have one of my various cameras in my hands. Additionally, my laugh, my dry (and usually corny) sense of humor, and my smile. Occasionally the fact that I wear a tweed jacket and actually manage to pull it off.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Sherlock Holmes, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, The Dresden Files, Jurassic Park, H.P. Lovecraft, The Stranger, No Exit, The Historian. Recently started reading the Discworld novels.

Comics/Manga: Hellboy/BPRD, Transformers, Runaways, Berserk, Black Lagoon, One Piece, Lupin III. Occasional Marvel or DC comics when the companies aren't slaughtering the characters with awful storylines and poor executive decisions.

Movies: Pacific Rim, Miyazaki films, Dracula (the original Bela Lugosi version), Wreck-It Ralph, Moon, Battle Royale, Tron/Tron: Legacy, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, Little Nemo in Slumberland, Star Wars, the Princess Bride, Inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both the Nolan Batman films and the original Tim Burton ones. Just recently watched the 2012 Dredd and became an instant fan.

TV Shows: Sherlock, Criminal Minds, Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Life (BBC documentary), Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Transformers, Fate/Zero, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka 7. I love Doctor Who but I've gotten extremely burned out on it recently and haven't watched anything past the second half of Season 7 and have no idea when I'll do so.

Music: The Protomen, Radiohead, Goldfish, Lupe Fiasco, Foo Fighters, Queen, David Bowie, Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Modest Mouse, Imogen Heap, Nine Inch Nails, The Glitch Mob, Royal Republic. Recently started listening to the Aquabats!. I also have an unabashed love of 80's pop hits and will sing along with anything ranging from Kate Bush to A-Ha! to Journey and beyond.

Video/Tabletop games: The Last of Us, Mirror's Edge, Fallout: New Vegas, Dark Souls, D&D (3.5), Castlevania, Psychonauts, Ace Attorney, Pokemon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Battlefield, Shadow Hearts, Digital Devil Saga/SMT, Warmachine.

Food: Just about anything. Thai and Indian can never go wrong. Meaty foods are delicious, and I have a liking for meals with gratuitous amounts of pasta. I have a weak spot for king crab legs and well-done seafood in general. Additionally, pub/bar food. I am a sucker for a well made bar burger or some fish n' chips with a stout.
The six things I could never do without
1. The internet
2. My wallet
3. My family/close friends
4. Food
5. My cameras (I don't care if this is technically multiple items it counts)
6. My cell phone
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to work on in terms of my next photographic project, planning out various potential cross-country trips in the near future, what I'm going to have as my next meal.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typically I'm relaxing at home, either chatting with friends or playing some games or reading. Recently though I've been going nuts doing photo editing for a freelance position that I've got, which has eaten into my free time QUITE a bit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I guess something would have to be that despite the fact that I enjoy swimming and I'm a certified scuba diver, any water deeper than 40-50 feet terrifies me. I wind up getting all sorts of phobias that I don't have on land when I'm that deep (I can't control my buoyancy, I get claustrophobic, I hyperventilate, etc.). I'm sort of ashamed to admit it, because I love the ocean and learning about all the life that's there. Also, night dives are one of the most terrifying experiences ever.

I have a deep and unironic love of any and all music from the 1980's ranging from Madonna and Kate Bush to Journey and Dio. If you say that music from the 80's is bad I will fight you.

I currently own a total of 9 cameras - a Canon 6D and the rest various film cameras. My favorites are my Speed Graphic 4x5 (a 1940's press camera), my Polaroid 100 Land Camera, and a 1916 Kodak Brownie that was given to me by my grandmother, and that was owned originally by my great-grandmother.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys

You should message me if
You appreciate bad puns.
You love photography of any kind, and want to talk about it over tea or go take some photos.
You like games, comic books, or sci-fi movies.
The idea of a night in watching a movie under some blankets on the couch is appealing to you.

If you'd like to go out and wander around Philadelphia, or go on a date to the Adventure Aquarium. Seriously though you have no idea how badly I've been dying to go there for the past year. I just haven't because going by yourself is poo.
