I’m really good at
finding options for fun things to do for free, getting high on life, traveling, remembering details, streamlining/prioritizing/decluttering/organizing, juggling a lot of interests/activities/responsibilities and also enjoying quiet times, working really hard but maintaining a sense of perpetual vacation, living an incredibly rich life without breaking the bank.
The first things people usually notice about me
The unruly curls? Eyes that can't decide whether they're brown or green? Optimism? Enthusiasm? Oh, and the energy, the nearly boundless energy. People comment on it all the time. I blame the vegetables.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
classic rock (Pink Floyd, old Genesis, Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, The Smiths, Led Zeppelin, old DMB)
modern rock (Radio 104.1, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Green Day, Deep Banana Blackout)
bluegrass
Carolina Chocolate Drops, Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem, Poor Old Shine, Caravan of Thieves
free summer Shakespeare performances
outdoor concerts
I am not a fan of television, in general, and don't currently own one, although I sometimes/rarely watch something YouTube. If I'm watching a video, it's likely a documentary or history show and I'm also knitting.
I'm not much of a book-reader. Most of my reading is online.
I usually eat very healthily, mostly a plant-based diet, but also love Thai, sushi, Ethiopian, fondue, Indian. The spicier, the better.
The six things I could never do without
The more you know, the less you need.

That said, here's my list:
fresh produce
sunshine
the Internet
bike
walking shoes
passport

I'm into minimalism, simple living, and non-consumerism, so there aren't many *things* that I could never do without. When I moved into my own place, I chose to bring very little with me and I still have more than I need and plenty of options to keep me entertained/challenged/engaged. Actually, I am quite confident that I am MORE entertained/challenged/engaged BECAUSE I'm not bogged down by too much stuff.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to enliven, enrich, enjoy. In other words, I work full-time, but it's just a tiny slice of my life because I try to keep things interesting with lots of activities, events, trips, classes, friends, outings, exploration, etc. On the other hand, I'm happy to just chill at home too, so always seeking balance between the two. I think about that balance a lot, although the out-and-about side usually wins, simply because the world has so much to offer.
On a typical Friday night I am
seeing live music/theater performed outdoors, taking a long walk with a friend, riding my bike, or prepping for a rockin' weekend full of plans.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have no sense of direction. Really. None. It's ridiculous and completely incongruous with my otherwise on-top-of-things nature. Thank goodness for Google Maps app and a general sense of openness to adventure.
