I am intelligent, strong, and passionate.

My Self-Summary

As you might guess from my screen name, I am a huge dog lover (the four legged type, of course!!).

I’m a 30-something (OK, a lot of somethings) girl originally from CA. I’m currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow in Baltimore. A friend of mine recently described me as a ‘fish pimp’ after hearing a description of my work. No kids yet, unless you count my nephews- both of whom have my heart on a string.
As far as hobbies go, I’m an avid reader. I was active in the music program in high school and college, but sadly didn’t have much time for my trumpet while in grad school. Symphonic band, orchestra, marching band, brass ensemble, jazz band- all of the geeky things. I’m currently working on ways of getting back into it without disturbing my neighbors in the apartment too terribly. I enjoy hikes, picnics, and other outdoorsy things.
So, the question of the day: what is it that I am looking for? I am hoping to find a long term relationship with that elusive ‘Mr. Compatible’ that is out there. I tend to have a sarcastic sense of humor and sometimes enjoy a bit of playful teasing. I’ve been vaccinated and am prone to things like regular bathing, exercising, and even routine changing of socks and underwear. I’m not the most religious person out there, but I do have a strong sense of Jewish identity and look forward to having a Jewish family.

Please contact me if you:
- Enjoy a good slow-roasted chicken
- Like participating in discussions about current events and good books
- Appreciate the virtues of warm chocolate chip cookies and brownies
- Are someone that the International Committee of Jewish Grandmothers would certify as ‘such a nice young man’
- Like attending an occasional concert or play
- Don’t mind my drooling over James Earl Jones if your voice is not deep and resonant- hell, even if it is, I’ll probably still drool over James, so let’s just say if you don’t mind drooling
- Are still wondering what the whole ‘fish pimp’ thing is about
- Are not wondering if this list has been prioritized

What I’m doing with my life

I take this as the 'what are my hobbies and interests' section here. Aside from work, my interests include reading and music (I was an avid trumpet player in my youth) and I'm developing an interest in finding groups to get involved with relating to both areas.

I’m really good at

I really enjoy cooking. Whether I'm good or not, you'll have to be the judge! Additionally, in my day centuries ago I was OK at the trumpet. BUT I got out of it when I was in graduate school and am only now finally starting to pick it up again. So right now I'm not so good :-)

The first things people usually notice about me

Hmm, I'd probably have to start off with my sarcastic sense of humor and my interest in Jewish culture. I'm also somewhat zaftig, and I'm sure people notice that as well, but generally it has never been a negative thing.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite books include many of the classics- JD Salinger, John Steinbeck, and many others. I've also been enjoying the Harry Potter books. Generally, I find I prefer fiction to non fiction, but I have read some good non-fiction books that I've really enjoyed. I enjoy a broad variety of music and movies. When it comes to food, GOOD food is always enjoyed, of course, but I tend to have fun when sharing recipes with friends from different cultures.

The six things I could never do without

These things I could not do without:
Oxygen
Water
Photosynthesis
ATP
SPONCH
Toilet paper

I spend a lot of time thinking about

All the funky things that might happen if we had more than one moon.

On a typical Friday night I am

This can actually vary quite a bit from one week to the next. Sometimes I'll be out with friends, other times at a local synagogue, and yet other times simply at home doing some laundry.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

J. Edgar Hoover liked wearing dresses.

You should message me if

Please message me if you are interested in having a nice time with a nice Jewish girl. I do have a 'thing' for Jewish guys- nothing against men who are not Jewish, but it is important to me, I think, to be able to share the Jewish holidays with my partner. Additionally, I am proud of my heritage and would like to raise any children I may have to know their culture.
