My self-summary
Hi, I'm Darren.

"All I want to do is ride bikes with you and stay up late and maybe spoon." (We could make music too.)

I'm kind of awkward but I'm okay with that.

I ride my bicycle a lot. Mostly because its practical (my bike is my car) and I like endorphines. I used to lead a sedentary life, then I got tired of being fat, started exercising, and dropped 150lbs. I'm still getting used to liking my body.

I don't hate many things, but extraneous pillows, decorative towel sets, fine china, or anything that can be categorized as "home decor", make me sick.

I've been playing drums for 11 years. Its kinda my thing.
What I’m doing with my life
In short, I manage an ice cream store. Doesn't sound like much, but I feel like I'm doing pretty damn well. On the bright side, I'm completely self-sufficient, I'm saving money for school, and I'm having an amazing time doing it.

When I'm not working, I read, write, bike, internet, and sometimes go to shows at Fitz or someplace near me.
I’m really good at
Putting myself in someone else's shoes.
Rhythm.
Chain smoking.
Drinking gin.
Communicating.
The first things people usually notice about me
The hunk of metal hanging from my nose, that my chin has a butt, and my lack of what those damn kids call "swag".
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books? Most Science fiction - Isaac Asimov, Orson Scott Card, Phillip K. Dick. Also, John Steinbeck, George Orwell, Jean Paul Sartre, Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut, Craig Thompson (EVERYONE needs to read Blankets), Oliver Sacks, and plenty of others I can't think of right now.

Shows/movies? I don't watch much of either, but when I DO, I like documentaries and other lame, educational stuff. Oh, and Adventure Time and Southpark.

Music? Some favorites - Don Caballero, Maps & Atlases, Battles, Modest Mouse, Do Make Say Think, The Tallest Man On Earth, Joanna Newsom, GIRAFFES? GIRAFFES!. I can dig anything that takes some technical proficiency to play or count. I like classic rock, jazz, folk, electronic... Good music knows no genre.

Food? I'm not really picky. I mostly keep vegetarian, but I'm known to order double bacon veggie burgers. Black beans are the cornerstone of my diet.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I can do to be a better person and morality in general.
Syncopations and polyrhythms.
Inequality, injustices, feminism, and the like.
Nerd stuff, like, which planets would be the most practical to terraform, interstellar travel, sentient life on other planets, etc.
Gender, sexuality, and how neither are binary.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing and having a drink after work while reading, writing, practicing mah music, or hanging out with a coupla like minded individuals.

Message me if you think we'd get along on any level.

I'm more often attracted to females than males. That being said, I'm pretty picky when it comes to guys - both with looks and with personality. I felt like I should mention that somewhere on here.

Bonus points if you:
-Have more than a passive interest in science fiction.
-Can improvise musically.
-Like any of the bands I mentioned.
-Like gin.
