My self-summary
Well, let's see...I've always considered myself a pretty funny person, though I tend to have an offensive sense humor. I've gotten to a point in my life where I think that political correctness has no place in the halls of humor. Oh yeah, and I find farts and potty humor hilarious, though I know how juvenile they are.

I work as a Mental Health Worker at a mental health rehabilitation center in Santa Cruz. Basically, I work with people who have schizophrenia, schizoaffective, severe bipolar or depression disorders and help them to work on managing their symptoms and educating them about their medications, and various other aspects of succeeding in the community. This work sounds odd to some people, but it has really changed the way I look at how our brains work and how stigma around mental illness hurts people who suffer from them.

Oh yeah, I also read a lot and love to watch and discuss movies. I'm also really interested in skepticism (evaluating extraordinary claims in a critical, open-minded manner), critical thinking skills, and I am a lover of science and scientific thinking.

So there!
What I’m doing with my life
While I am currently working as a Mental Health Worker (see My self-summary), I do plan to go to graduate school sooner or later to get either a Psy.d or MFT. Ultimately, I would like to become a therapist of some sort, because I like to help people who have problems, but I want them to help themselves in the process. I have also been playing with the idea of going to film school and learning about the theory and process of film. A lot of my friends think I would make a good movie critic. But that's kind of a fantasy plan at the moment.
I’m really good at
Arguing against irrational beliefs. Not that I expect to convert people who hold them, but here's to reaching vainly toward impossible goals!
I'm also good at remembering trivial information about movies, The Simpsons (Only seasons 1-10), and other random garbage that I love.
The first things people usually notice about me
How tall I am; how green my eyes are if I'm wearing green; and how I have an almost orgasmic response to good food.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: 'Moby Dick' by Herman Melville; 'Native Son' by Richard Wright; 'Tales of the City' by Armistead Maupin; 'Cannery Row' by John Steinbeck; 'The Demon-Haunted World' by Carl Sagan; 'Books of Blood' by Clive Barker; The Silver Spoon cookbook.

Movies: 'Ikiru' by Akira Kurosawa; 'Umberto D' by Vittorio De Sica; 'Silence of the Lambs' by Jonathan Demme; 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' by Carl Dreyer; 'Genghis Blues' by Roko Belic; '3-Iron' by Kim Ki-Duk (also my favorite director); 'The Last Laugh' by F.W. Murnau; 'Testament of Dr. Mabuse' by Fritz Lang; 'Let the Right One In' by Tomas Alfredson; 'Seven Samurai' by Kurosawa; 'The Dark Knight' by Chris Nolan; 'Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie' by Jim Mallon; and all of Darren Aronofsky's fims.

Music: The Eels, Hawaiian music, Bluegrass

TV Shows: South Park, Battlestar Galactica, Demetri Martin: Important Things, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Simpsons (Seasons 1-10, before it got shitty), Bullshit!, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report (It's French, bitch!)

Food: I'm a big fan of food and there's not a whole lot that I won't eat. I especially love meat products and I have no qualms about eating things that are high in fat and cholesterol. While I consider myself to have a rather refined sense of taste, that does not mean that I don't enjoy the gastronomic pleasures of a Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger every once in a while.
The six things I could never do without
-A comfortable chair/couch
-Cherry Coke
-Good Scotch
-Good books
-Good movies
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Movie themes and structure; arguments that I might have with someone, or have already had and I want to fantasize about what I *should* have said that would've been AWESOME!!; and sex (deal with it!)
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to the movies with a friend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Despite being more-or-less atheist, I still find myself thinking about God a lot. I don't really know why, but I'm okay with it.
I’m looking for

  • Ages 20–35

  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You have no problem eating meat (I know that's weird to say, but I love food and I love experiencing it with other people and dietary restrictions impede that) and no hang-ups about politically incorrect humor.
