My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm unapologetically geeky in terms of my tastes in most entertainment. I can be found with friends at the movies, the shore, concerts, comedy shows, trying to find the best sushi restaurants in the area, playing board games/video games and if the season is right, at Rutgers football games.

I've never been married and I have no children (but would like both). At this point, I'm too realistic to be going out to the bar or the club to try to meet the right woman. Still love to go out, but not to try to get to know someone via shouting and shorthand sign language.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just bought a house and moved to the 'burbs, so I'm going to be in full tool-belt mode for while. I think I should just list my new address as the Home Depot.

Started a new career last year, which unfortunately involves a long drive. I miss walking to work...but at least the new gig is much more interesting than the last. I find myself genuinely happy with what I'm doing for a living for the first time in a very very long time.

Dealing with a few injuries that are keeping me from getting back to my weight training regimen. Amazing how important knees and shoulders are... easing back into it now.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking and listening. Word games (scrabble, etc). I'd say I'm a great judge of character, great at movie/tv quotes (a wildly underrated, if common, skill) and at laughing with my friends (even at myself). Also, frequent use of parentheses, apparently.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hazel eyes, I'm told.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Impossible to list it all without this being huge, but here's a few samples from each area:

Books: "Good Omens" is probably my favorite book. Anything by Gaiman, Vonnegut, Steven Brust, William Gibson, or Brandon Sanderson. I'm all over the place, but mostly read fiction.

Currently on a non-fiction kick. Reading Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era, and have Between the World and Me on deck.

Recent good reads:
The Dead Lands;
Pages From the Textbook of Alternate History;
Someone Could Get Hurt: A Memoir of 21st Century Parenting;
Wisdom; Compassion; Serenity: First Steps on the Buddhist Path (not a practitioner myself, just find it interesting);

Movies: Comedies are generally my favorites, but A Few Good Men, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Big Fish, Tombstone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Star Wars are some faves.

TV (All time): Coupling (UK), Firefly, Pushing Daisies, The Simpsons, BSG (remake), West Wing; (Whedon, Fuller, Sorkin)

Music: I'll listen to just about anything, but Social Distortion, Weezer, Bad Religion, Rise Against, Jamiroquai, and Me First & The Gimme Gimmes are some that I can listen to at just about any time.

Food: Spicy tuna rolls, NY strip steak. I like to try new things, though I did not try (nor did I come across, actually) the rancid shark meat on my trip to Iceland. I love cooking, but kind of hate that my kitchen is too small.

I generally lean towards geeky/nerdy stuff, but have a pretty wide range of interests.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order: The Internet, My Friends, My Family, Barbells, Books, Pie.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pie. National politics. Han Dynasty's DanDan Noodles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going out with friends to a bar or a movie. Staying in for a movie or Rock Band or a board game.

Cards Against Humanity = favorite party game. (Yes, I'm aware it has some problematic aspects, but as with almost all human interactions, knowing your audience is key)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I often get caught up in thinking of this section as the "most embarrassing thing I'm willing to admit", which isn't entirely the same thing, but it works out that way. So, I'll just leave it at this -- there is a playlist on my phone that has some appalling pop music that I am almost always tempted to sing along to.

You have removed sparkly popcorn ceilings before and want to do so again.

You have an appreciation for the absurd. You like what you've read and want to know more about me.
