My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm Dan.

Strengths:
I am kinda chubby.
I am very geeky.
I literally CAN even.
I am grounded but am captivated by the whimsical and absurd.

Weaknesses:
(Job interview answer) I have my life together, which is problematic in that I worry about immobility.
I live in the suburbs.
Kryptonite.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I switched careers early last year and I finally love what I do for a living. It involves poking my head into people's private lives, writing about it, and occasionally helping to catch criminals.

I am a recent first time homeowner. I am fixing up said home. It finally seems like I'm making progress

Otherwise, I'm reading, playing board games with friends, playing video games with friends, swimming or watching TV. Sometimes I go out and do stuff too, like go to comedy clubs. Sometimes I also have people over for bbqs and the like.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Not League of Legends.

I'm good at taking jokes over the line of appropriateness... Though usually only around people who know me.

I'm good at resisting the urge to adopt a husky because I know it wouldn't be fair that I'm away from home most of the day.

I'm good at arguing but I don't particularly like to.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Beard. Eyes. The subtle impression that I'm singing The Humpty Dance to myself every time no one is watching.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Impossible to list it all without this being huge, but here's a few samples from each area:

Books: "Good Omens" is probably my favorite book. Anything by Gaiman, Vonnegut, Steven Brust, William Gibson, or Brandon Sanderson. I'm all over the place, but mostly read fiction.

Recent good reads:
Reading Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era;
Between the World and Me;
The Dead Lands;
Pages From the Textbook of Alternate History;

Movies: Comedies are generally my favorites, but A Few Good Men, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Big Fish, Tombstone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Star Wars are some faves.

TV (All time): Coupling (UK), Firefly, Pushing Daisies, The Simpsons, BSG (remake), West Wing; (Whedon, Fuller, Sorkin)

Music: I'll listen to just about anything, but Social Distortion, Weezer, Bad Religion, Rise Against, Jamiroquai, and Me First & The Gimme Gimmes are some that I can listen to at just about any time.

Food: Spicy tuna rolls, NY strip steak. I like to try new things, though I did not try (nor did I come across, actually) the rancid shark meat on my trip to Iceland. I love cooking, but kind of hate that my kitchen is too small.

I generally lean towards geeky/nerdy stuff, but have a pretty wide range of interests.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order: My Friends, My Family, Books, Pie, stuff, things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pie. National politics. Han Dynasty's DanDan Noodles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going out with friends to a bar or a movie. Staying in for a movie or Rock Band or a board game.

Cards Against Humanity = favorite party game. (Yes, I'm aware it has some problematic aspects, but as with almost all human interactions, knowing your audience is key)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I often get caught up in thinking of this section as the "most embarrassing thing I'm willing to admit", which isn't entirely the same thing, but it works out that way. So, I'll just leave it at this -- there is a playlist on my phone that has some appalling pop music that I am almost always tempted to sing along to.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You have an appreciation for the absurd. You like what you've read and want to know more about me.
