I'm most passionate about:
* The outdoors & staying healthy. On a nice day I might be cycling, kayaking, running, or trying something new. This summer I've taken up wakeboarding and stand up paddleboarding both of which are proving to be loads of fun. During the week I go to the gym and enjoy it more than I should. I like to eat well and cook fresh food when I can find the time.
* Learning. I'm a frequent student at my local community colleges, and coursera is fast approaching an addiction.
* Music. Another constant passion. I play guitar (and a bit of keyboard), and most recently have been taking singing lessons.
* Minimising my impact on the planet. Sometimes this goal is hard to reconcile with other things I want to do, but I try when I can. I try to avoid buying lots of Stuff and gadgets, and often buy second hand even when I could buy new, since I hate to see things going to landfill.
* Making a contribution to the world, however small. For me, that is primarily in science and engineering, since that's where my skills are; one of my life goals is contributing to progress on a significant problem. Failing that, I think my biggest contribution will be teaching others. I'm trying to take more opportunities to give talks about things that interest me.
* Vulnerability. See also Brené Brown's excellent TED talk. I love little awkward moments, they're the best.
I'm INFP on Myers-Briggs, though some of those letters are borderline. I'm also not as deathly serious as this profile probably makes me seem.
