My self-summary
I'm a geek, an illustrator, and a web designer, in about that order. I also have like a billion other talents, sort of like Batman. I draw, I design, I build, I teach, I joke, I make fun, I paint, I assemble, I disassemble, but I rarely dissemble and I try not to resemble.

I aspire one day to visit Thailand and illustrate a children's book about elephants. I love to cook, and have lots of fun figuring out exciting meals to make using leftover ingredients.

I'm kind, generous and honest almost to a fault. I like to build things, make things and plan ridiculous projects. I've tasted minor internet fame several times.

I love art, cartoons, and things that are awesome. People who think they are too old to pretend make me sad.

My wife and I have an open and honest non-monogamous relationship, so I am not here looking for a serious primary girlfriend. I am looking to chat with and meet smart and interesting women out there in the naked city.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm doing this!

Up until recently I was working full-time for a small internet marketing company. In November I decided to up and leave that, and start raising funds to finish a tarot card set I started designing almost a decade ago. That plan was an overwhelming success, so now I make art for a living. Neato. So my life is a bit crazygonuts right now, but in a good way.

I went to art school for Illustration (both BFA and MA), and spent several years working as a freelancer before I landed a full-time job a few years back. I may be a freelancer again now... or I may be on my way to something else. As me again next spring.

I like to run classes and events out of my apartment. I ran a web design class for several weeks, and right now I'm doing a monthly figure drawing salon. I really enjoy teaching - I have a soft plan to start doing it professionally one day.

Once a week or so, I play a roleplaying game with friends and we pretend to be wizards or vampires or somesuch. And no, I'm not ashamed of that nor do I think I should be. Ask me sometime why playing pretend and telling stories is good for you.

I'm living in a ridiculous apartment on the UWS, with a rotating cast of delightful characters. We work to make the place a kind of nerdy Mecca.
I’m really good at
Visual design in any form. Teaching people how to draw. Understanding HTML/CSS. Thinking up stories. Foot massage. Adventures into the unknown. Organizing elaborate sexy parties. Being tender and thoughtful for no reason. Having ideas. Making homemade ice cream. Recalling minor facts about comic book characters. Over-analyzing Trek. Finding something to do on Saturday afternoons.
The first things people usually notice about me
The nerdy shirt I am probably wearing. I can't resist buying them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: A few favorites off the top of my head -
• The Tao of Pooh - Benjamin Hoff
• Gentlemen of the Road - Michael Chabon
• A Game of Thrones - George R. R. Martin
• Doomsday Book - Connie Willis
• The Warrior's Apprentice - Lois McMaster Bujold
• His Majesty's Dragon - Naomi Novik
• Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susanna Clarke

Movies: This is obviously only a short list. As a general rule, I am always up for anything that contains either animation, spaceships, superheroes or creepy undead Japanese girls.
• Edward Scissorhands
• Star Wars
• Back to the Future (part II is the best, obviously)
• The Fantastic Mr. Fox
• The Secret of Kells
• Up
• The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
• The Dark Knight
• Iron Man
• The Ring

Shows: Hard to pick some favorites, but here's what comes to mind lately.
• Doctor Who
• Star Trek (DS9 is my fave, and I will defend it)
• Misfits
• Mythbusters
• Firefly
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer
• Batman the Animated Series
• Gargoyles
• Adventure Time with Finn and Jake (Algebraic!)
• Community

Music:I generally love classic rock/arena rock, and have soft spot for the music of the 80's because it sounds like my childhood. Right now I'm listening to stuff that's kind of pretentious and narrative... I don't know what that genre is called.
• Lynyrd Skynyrd
• Of Monsters and Men
• The Decemberists
• Counting Crows
• Journey (Who doesn't love Journey? I mean, fucking Journey.)
• Rush
• Pink Floyd
• Mumford & Sons
• Queen

Food: I do love to eat, and and I love to cook for people. NY Chinese is my comfort food style, and Murray's Cheese Shop is my Mecca. I will happily set out a cheese and charcuterie board in front of you if you let me, and then get way serious about the underappreciated value of raw milk cheeses.
The six things I could never do without
Hard to say. I sort of fantasize that I'd be capable of dropping everything one day and living like a hermit. Sometimes I imagine packing up and living in a tiny Irish village on the edge of a cliff, or on a remote Pacific island. But as a life-long New Yorker, I expect I'd get bored pretty quick, at least without company. So my list is one thing: good company.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next hare-brained scheme. Don't laugh, every once in while, one of my ridiculous plans works out. Better to try and fail, then never to have tried.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with friends if I can -- either watching a movie, playing a game, or going out for food. All three if possible. I live pretty low-key: I'd much rather spend quality time with good people I know then try and party with strangers.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I still think fondly about the blackout of 2003, when I went streaking in the dark through central park. I could listen to the opening fanfare for Deep Space Nine a hundred billion times and it will never fail to give me a joy tingle. Also, I have a tattoo on my right shoulder of Winnie the Pooh.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
You're interested in meeting a cute, patient, confident and extremely sweet nerdy guy who won't be a jackass or treat you like chopped liver. You're looking for someone who's mature enough to know what he wants out of life, speak honestly and openly about it, and isn't looking to make any unreasonable demands on you. You don't seek additional drama in your life, but think it's okay to like fun. You want to make out. You think it'd be nice to have someone to chat with late at night, with no expectations. You wanna say hi and see what I'm about - I'm a friendly guy, no pressure.
